We keep allowing people to be bigots as if it comes down to a difference of opinion. It’s not a difference of opinion. It’s willful ignorance and discrimination. It’s easier to view gay people as sinful beasts than to acknowledge reality. And reality is that gay people exist and they’re not heathens, they’re not abominations, they’re not aberrations and there’s nothing about them to agree or disagree with. Human sexuality isn’t something you agree upon, it’s part of one’s nature. People are gay. Get over it.

From Wonder Woman to the White House, the eternally gorgeous Lynda Carter is back on network TV!  Variety announced today that the actress most famous for playing Wonder Woman in the 1970s has been cast in a recurring role of the President of the United States in the upcoming season of the CW’s Supergirl.

From Variety:

Executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg teased the casting in March, telling reporters that they had sought to cast Carter for the role last season, but that her schedule wouldn’t allow it. They added that they intended to make the casting happen in the upcoming second season.

Carter last appeared on television in a 2013 episode of CBS’ “Two and a Half Men.” She appeared on an episode of “Smallville” in 2007.

Her casting follows that of Tyler Hoechlin, who will play Superman in the upcoming second season of “Supergirl.”

Season 2 of “Supergirl” premieres Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. The series migrates to the CW next season after the first season aired on CBS.

Yesterday, we reported that Cruel Intentions star Selma Blair had a mid-flight breakdown after reportedly mixing medication and alcohol. Witnesses say the actress began crying and yelled, “He burns my private parts!” and “He beats me! He’s going to kill me!” before being removed on stretcher when the plane landed and taken to a hospital. Today she spoke out about the incident, apologizing to the airline staff, the other passengers, and to her fans.

Via TMZ:

“I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret.”

In a statement to Vanity Fair she added, “I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.”

The only saving grace, she says, was that her son was asleep with headphones on during the incident and saw nothing.

I still wonder if we need need to take a deeper look at whatever relationship she’s in, and see if this freakout was a one-time occurrence or some larger problem that needs addressing…

Her response? “I have to record another album for Universal/Motown. And I will.”

Then she continued:

With that being said, my sister is signed to EMI. She’s recording a record, and out of respect for her and her true career choice — which is all she wants to do is make music, and her voice is like…Etta James meets Adele; I want to respect her in that lane and stay in my lane working with children and creating films and writing and directing. I will sing in my films, but I want her to sing in them as well. So, as much as I want to sing every day, I don’t want my sister to hate me.”

Hmmm. Well, that doesn’t sound QUITE as promising, but HERE’S HOPING?

Confused about what Brexit means? And why do we in America give two sh*ts?

It seems the count is in and voters are in favor of Brexit: the British exit from the European Union. well, it’s official, the commonwealth of Britain has voted to leave the European Union. In the coming months, British and European leaders will begin negotiating the terms of Britain’s departure.

Britain’s exit will certainly affect the British economy, immigration policy, and more. It will likely take years for the full consequences to become clear. But these are some of the most important changes we can expect in the coming months. According to Vox,

• A Brexit vote is not legally binding, and there are a few ways it could theoretically be blocked or overturned.

• Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union establishes the procedures for a member state to withdraw from the EU.

• Once Britain invokes Article 50, it will have a two-year window in which to negotiate a new treaty to replace the terms of EU membership. Britain and EU leaders would have to hash out issues like trade tariffs, migration, and the regulation of everything from cars to agriculture.

Brexit will surely cause problems for Britain’s economy…

• In the short run, uncertainty about Britain’s future relationship with the EU, its largest trading partner, could push the UK into a recession. Market watchers predict an “explosion of volatility” tomorrow morning as the markets process the implications of Britain’s exit. Many economists expect both the British stock market and the pound to open lower on Friday morning. Britain’s chancellor of the exchequer, George Osborne, even hinted that he could suspend stock market trading if Britons voted to exit the EU.

• In the long run, the situation could be worse. If Cameron’s government falls, Britain’s prospects of negotiating a favorable deal with the EU could be weakened. The EU may decide to strike a hard bargain to discourage other countries from leaving the EU. Or the UK’s new leader might not be willing to accept the kind of restrictions that come with a Norway-style deal.

There are many more implications, but they all remain to be seen. Well Trump as a potential POTUS for 2016, sorry, Brits, we got our own problems.
