“A few days ago I received a very special package I the mail. It contained this amputated human toe, belonging to the lovely royallyoily. Like, literally this is a toe off of her foot. I’ll be changing the solution, putting it in a new pretty jar, and potentially making it into a wearable pendant. The Feb. 2017 movie will chronicle Spears’ rise to stardom, fall from grace, and return to the spotlight — mixed in, of course, with sordid tales of the men with whom she crossed paths along the way. (Oh, did I forget to mention all five members of *NSYNC are represented in this movie? Those pictures are among my favorites.)

This upcoming weekend, over 2000 veterans will be giving Standing Rock protestors a break by standing in as “human shields” in North Dakota where the Native Americans have been protesting, in the area where the pipeline will threaten their land and access to water.

Some 2,000 veterans will join demonstrations against the Dakota Access Pipeline with the idea of giving a break to protesters who have engaged in the standoff for months. The veterans also want to call attention to the violent treatment that law enforcement has waged on the protesters, according to Veterans Stand for Standing Rock.

“We want to offer them a moment of peace and, if we can, take a little bit of pressure off,” said Ashleigh Jennifer Parker, a Coast Guard veteran and spokeswoman for Veterans Stand for Standing Rock.

Two-thousand veterans have signed up and the Oceti Sakowin protesters’ campsite cannot hold more veterans than that, but about 1,000 more have said they plan to come, Parker said. The veterans plan to set up on Dec. 4 and will stay at least through Dec. 7, she said. She later added that some would remain indefinitely at Standing Rock.

“The militarized police paid for by tax dollars … is unconstitutional,” Parker said.

 

“People are being brutalized; concussion grenades are being thrown into crowds,” Parker said. “They’re spraying people, even old women, and other elders of the tribe with tear gas and pepper spray and all of this is just unconstitutional. I can’t believe the media hasn’t taken more of an interest in this.”

Protesters say the $3.8 billion, 1,172-mile pipeline that would stretch underneath a lake on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation -would threaten water resources and sacred Native American sites. The pipeline is owned by Energy Transfer Partners LP, out of Texas, and is mostly constructed except for the stretch planned to go under Lake Oahe.

North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple has said it is most likely too late to reroute the project, but he would like to restore a relationship with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Council. On Nov. 10, Dalrymple called on the White House to end the standoff.

“A federal decision on the project’s easement is long overdue,” Dalrymple said in a statement.  “Further delays simply prolong the risks to public safety, prolong the hardships endured by area residents and increase costs incurred by the state of North Dakota and Morton County.”

On Monday, North Dakota state officials ordered the camp vacated, saying the cold makes it dangerous for protesters to stay there. But law enforcement has continued to allow vehicles to enter the site.

The veterans say their action will not be violent and they will have no weapons.

“We will be unarmed, completely prepared for peaceful protest,” Parker said. “We don’t even like the word ‘protest.’ We’re there to help the water protectors,” she said, referring to the phrase that has come to describe the protesters.

The veterans’ action came about after veteran Michael Wood, a former police officer, and Wesley Clark, a veteran and screenwriter, set up a crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe.com to raise money to help veterans support the Standing Rock protests. As of Wednesday night, the campaign had raised $692,240.

The organizers said they believe that if they are treated violently, it will draw more attention to the clashes that have been happening at the protest site.

“We’re hoping if we stand together in formation and look the aggressors in their face … if they can treat us the same way (as they have the protesters) then that should showcase to the American people what’s going on up there,” Parker said.

Poor horses have been wearing the same horrible kind of horse shoes for over 2000 years. They’re heavy, they restrict movement, have no shock absorption, they channel heat and cold to the inner hoof, and the need for nailing can absolutely destroy the hoof horn. Did you know: 50% of horses that needed to be put down suffered from severe hoof and leg problems?

Finally, though, and Australian company has a new invention that absolutely REVOLUTIONIZES equine footwear.

“The time is ripe for healthy and comfortable hoof protection for horses,” Charly Forstner said. “In 1998, I already proved with a wedge test that the hoof moves on the vertical plane 1-2cm, almost 10 times more than horizontally, and without affecting the overlying joint. This means that the hoof works jointly and compensates for ground irregularities such as stones and ground waves. A rigid fixation of the hoof capsule by a horseshoe is, therefore, very close to plastering it. Horseshoes immobilize ligaments and tendons; hence, it makes the blood flow becomes weaker.” Apparently, the Megasus Horserunners change all that.

“The innovative Megasus Horserunners offer many advantages over the traditional products such as they are lightweight (less than half a pound), can be adjusted individually, easy to put on, and offer protection without permanence,” a Megasus press release states. “It can also stay put in all kinds of terrain including mud and water plus it allows the hoof to be flexible. The product is also designed to protect the sole from bruising, cracking and other injuries by offering shock absorption. It does not accumulate snow, dirt or mud and is easy to clean.”

Using an improved velcro system instead of using dangerous iron nails, the Megasus Horserunners simply clip-on to the horse’s hooves. Two large strips of strong velcro tape (called Meg-Log Tape) stick on to each hoof, to which the Horserunners clip on with individually adjustable side clips.

“The Mega-Lock tape remains approximately 3 weeks on the hoof and is protected with a protection foil during the time the hoof goes bare. The foil has a sealing lip similar to swimming goggles, so that the Mega-Lock tape is prevented from water and dirt intrusion,” Megasus claims.

The Austrian company ensures horse owners that the clip-on system is so strong that the Horserunners will stay on the hoof in any terrain. (via Oddity Central)

After successfully testing the prototype for their horse running shoes, Megasus sought to raise some money for production through crowdfunding. They launched a campaign on Kickstarter in October, asking for €100,00, and by the time the campaign ended, they managed to raise €169,136. The first Megasus Horserunners are scheduled to be shipped in July 2017.

The upcoming live-action movie based on the iconic Mattel line of dolls will follow the title character as she gets kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect enough and ends up in the real world. The PG-rated movie is expected to hit theaters in the summer of 2018.

Hilary Winston came up with the story and wrote the screenplay, but Schumer and her sister, Kim Caramele, are expected to rewrite. Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald headed the 2014 deal with Mattel to secure the intellectual property, and the two will produce the film along with Amy Pascal. The film does not yet have a director attached.

Clubland’s first “Changing of the Guard” photo was in a 1984 issue of the old Details and featured “up and comers” like Keith Haring, John Sex, Andy Warhol, Dianne Brill, Stephen Saban, Terri Toye, Eric Goode, and Michael Musto. In the late ’80s, Michael Alig took over the tradition and included the new wave of club kids like RuPaul, Larry Tee, Keoki, Kenny Kenny, Nelson Sullivan, Julie Jewels, and James St James (see bottom pics)

Now, after an absence of 20+ years, Michael is BACK with an all-new “Changing of the Guard” photo, taken at his party Rumpus Room.

Michael Alig is heralding a new class of club kids.

The former promoter and ex-con subject of the James St. James book “Party Monster” is bringing back a poster project called “Changing of the Guard,” which first came out at the famed Tunnel nightclub in 1988 and featured then-newbies to the scene RuPaul and Kenny Kenny.

“Every year back in the day we used to do a changing of the guard, a beautifully styled large poster of the It people who [were] making things happen,” Alig told Page Six. “The It girl, doorman, party designer, promoter, everyone who was the best and hottest . . . they were the new faces . . . bubbling up from the underground.” This year’s poster will be shot at Rumpus Room.
