Poor Leo. Has he finally realized that none of it really matters, none of THIS matters, that it’s all just hubris and vanity? The yachts? The models? The vacuous party lifestyle? His whole world is built on sand and fog. It means NOTHING. Does he finally realize that he’s never going to get the respect he deserves until he gives it all up? Is that what he’s thinking as he looks out over the clear blue water of the Mediterranean?
“His soul swooned slowly…” indeed. It’s like we’re looking into the very heart of despair here. Such sadness. Such. Weltschmerz. THIS is Leonardo at age 39. THESE are the portraits of a man whose very life is in flux, who is questioning every decision he’s ever made. So iconic, so telling. If these pics aren’t memed by the end of the day, I’ll eat my wig.
