Las Vegas just got a lot more fab (Britney and JLo who?)! Androgynous singer/songwriter Shamir Bailey, aka Shamir, recently put out EP Northtown, and now he’s released another pop/disco hit On The Regular. Being that he’s only about 19ish, there’s a lot of youthful feistiness and angst being worked out here, with lyrics like “Don’t try me. I’m not a free sample. Step to me and you will be handled”. That’s a lot of gumption coming from the 120lbs soaking wet Nevadian. But the countertenor has a huge voice, delivering rapid fire verses like NYC rapper Cakes Da Killa, and poptastic groves reminiscent of late 80s Neneh Cherry. Check out the vid below, replete with cowbells and a Fisher Price phone…too cute!
