Bradley Cooper is a REAL American – times 4. He’s starred in American Hustle, he’s scheduled to shoot Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper next, and he’s attached to produce and possibly star in the Jay Roach–directed Lance Armstrong movie Red Blooded American. And now he has signed on to produce and star in American Blood. This is RIDICULOUS. Is it a guaranteed US marketing strategy? – put “American” in the title. Do they have a name generator that they just plug in a noun and you get a synopsis and a title? We’ve had American Wedding, American Pie, American Psycho, American Horror Story, American Beauty, American Dad, American Idol, American Addict, and The American. What is left? American Jellybean? American Actress? American Elbow Pain? I think they are really scraping the bottom of the American barrel.
The Standard, East Village (as opposed to the High Line location) was formerly The Cooper Square Hotel. The designers re-upped the modern glam quotient on the new 21-story glass tower with amazing unobstructed views of uptown and the East Village. Really spacious rooms, with floor-to-ceiling windows, plus Narcissa, André Balazs and Michelin-starred chef John Fraser’s restaurant, featuring seasonal, local and organic produce from André Balazs’ Hudson Valley farm. This could mean some stiff competition for the nearby Bowery Hotel. Another downtown hipster hangout – next up? SoHo House, East Village.
Over the years, the Houston Street wall in Manhattan has become a touchstone for artists like Keith Haring and Kenny Scharf. It’s an honor to get chosen to do your thing on the wall. Kenny has had his mural tagged by other graffiti artists and the latest painter, Maya Hayuk. She had an unexpected collaboration, clean it up and got hit again, harder. Shepard Fairey’s installation famously got hit so heavily that holes were literally punched into the wall. (Hayuk and myself were contributors to “Take Back the Streets” that was at the New Museum and is now at Wall Play through March 5, along with Fairey & Scharf’s work and 10 other artists.) For some reason, sanctioned street art that gets tagged by other “artists” gets little sympathy. Someone painting on top of your work just feels wrong, no matter where it’s located – unless of course you’re a dick, then I’ll bet, it’s cool.

Also in the cast: Kelly Osbourne, Andy Dick, Vivaca A Fox, and Judd Hirsch. Have I ever told you how much I DETEST Judd Hirsch? I do. Just LOATHE him. I With a white-hot burning rage. Always have. Sam Faiers from TOWIE and CBBUK has just been diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease and was in severe pain the whole time she was in the Celebrity Big Brother house. She couldn’t eat without pain, couldn’t keep anything down but now, after weeks of tests, at least she knows why. Since Sam and Joey Essex split up, it’s not been the best, but he has stepped it up in her time of need. According to Heatworld, they’ve been meeting up and he’s been a great comfort to her. How sweet. (Pictured with the amazing Harry Derbridge. Photo: Pacific Coast News)
“Wes Anderson’s latest cinematic styling, The Grand Budapest Hotel, is an exquisitely calibrated, deadpan-comic miniature that expands in the mind and becomes richer and more tragic. The movie’s philosophical core is in its palette, starting with Anderson’s trademark off-symmetrical frames, increasingly precarious seesaws of shape and color. He is, however, beginning to break out of his (over) reliance on tableaux vivants. The mountainside hotel is a dollhouse reached by model train, but inside it’s like Dr. Who’s tardis: Vistas expand, contract, and pirouette. The lobby choreography is busy, layered, militaristically efficient. The colors are intense: pink walls, crimson carpets, staff waistcoats of electric magenta. Has Anderson ever designed a house? Imagine a walking tour of favorite directors. Tim Burton could build a cave across the street. Paul Greengrass’s place would be on a canal to simulate nonstop Shakicam. I digress, but Anderson makes you dream of designs for living on a higher (or funkier) plane.” -David Edelstein, New York Magazine

Here’s charismatic it-boy Dane DeHaan getting into character as James Dean on the set of his new movie Life. The upcoming movie tells the true story of the (BROMANTIC?) friendship between James Dean and Life magazine photographer Dennis Stock (played by Robert Pattinson, right). Dane, of course, has the same tortured lost boy vibe as James Dean, although he’s a bit pricklier, and not quite as soft-focus as Dean, if you know what I mean. Not sure he’s going to pull this one off. As for Pattinson, he’s got the easy part. Nobody know what the hell this Dennis Stock character looked like so there are no expectations. As long as he puts some Brylcream in his hair and doesn’t sparkle, he’ll be fine. (Photos: Pacific Coast News)

We’ve already established that nobody is watching Twisted, the ABC Family show starring the smoldering Avan Jogia and a gaggle of gorgeous hunks (including Grey Damon, Chris Zylka, and Ashton Moio, hubba hubba). But there’s this new guy, see. Jack Falahee, and he just LEAPS OFF THE SCREEN, really, with a presence that just SCREAMS “star quality.” Like a young Skeet Ulrich, this boy is. You’ve got to see him to believe him. I can’t gush enough. Anyway, he plays mysterious newcomer Charlie McBride, who we just learned was cellmates with Danny Desai in juvie, and is harboring a DARK SECRET, as mysterious strangers tend to do in these shows. Is he really Danny’s half-brother? Does he hold the key to what really happened to Regina? Who knows. I’m just waiting for him to take his shirt off. REMEMBER THAT NAME: Jack Falahee. Soon, I predict he’s going to be EVERYWHERE. On this blog.

Handsomest sports star EVER Robbie Rogers is on the cover of Attitude magazine talking about his road to self-acceptance. See the nips after the jump.
The blue-eyed hump-monkey tells the magazine: “Definitely in my career there were so many times when I struggled with my mental health. That affected the way I played. For younger people that are closeted and they see that it’s illegal to be gay in Qatar, then they know that the World Cup’s going to be there and maybe they’re football fans? That’s so damaging on their psyche, on their mental health. My thing was that I was done and I was going to [come out] on my own terms, away from a football club. I was going to take some time to myself and no-one was going to try and persuade me to do that while I was back in football and no-one was going to persuade me to do it in any other way.” (via Towleroad)
