Amal Alamuddin at her final fitting with Oscar de la Renta. It just may have been his final fitting too.

Legendary fashion designer, Oscar de la Renta, died today of cancer. He was 82. He was known for decades for dressing celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Garner, Sarah Jessica Parker and many First Ladies. His last big moment in the spotlight came when he designed Amal Clooney’s wedding dress, just last month.

CFDA Director Fern Mallis recently called him “the sultan of suave.” At an event, he spoke of his cancer, saying;

“Yes, I had cancer. Right now, I am totally clean. The only realities in life are that you are born, and that you die. We always think we are going to live forever. The dying aspect we will never accept. The one thing about having this kind of warning is how you appreciate every single day of life.”

De la Renta was married twice. His first wife, Francoise de Langlade, died in ’83, of bone cancer. In ’89, he married socialite Annette Reed. He dressed first lady Nancy Reagan in the 1980s, and provided the gowns for inaugural events for both Hillary Clinton in 1997 and Laura Bush in 2005. Michelle Obama finally wore one of his dresses this month. More than a great designer and fashion icon, everyone has said, he was always a gentleman. THAT, unfortunately, is a dying breed.

It’s a very special Halloween edition of Transformations today, where we go ON LOCATION to the Queen Mary “Dark Harbor” fright fest in Long Beach. Transformation all-star Jen Fregozo and ghoul coordinator Christina Cofran gave me a lovely decomposing sea hag makeover, covering me in lichen, barnacles, and mold. I then got to run around, talking to the various Dark Harbor creatures, learning their stories, and hearing the haunted history of the ship. Lady Gaga dished out $23 million on a house in Malibu, with room for a pony! Check out some drool-worthy photos below. What do you think? A dream home or a little bit blah for Gaga? See photos below!

TMZ reports that Lady Gaga has bought a 10,270-square-foot house in the Zuma Beach neighborhood of Malibu, California. The mansion waslisted in June for $24.95M by Dan Romanelli, founder of the Warner Brothers Worldwide Consumer Products Division, around which time there was much talk of his home having a “Batcave,” seeing as he developed a lot of the toys and apparel linked to the Batman movies. Curbed is sad to report that, while it does have an underground bowling alley reached via secret passage, there is nary a stalagmite or costume display case to be found in Lady Gaga’s new basement rec room. (The latter will likely be remedied soon.)

The “Batcave,” which looks like a McMansion-y basement save for the “1960s-era two-lane bowling alley,” also has a wetbar-equipped theater and an 800-bottle wine cellar. The 2005 house was designed by “notable” architect Steve Giannetti, and “tastefully and timelessly” decorated by “celebrated” interior designer Madeline Stuart, according to the listing, who both took inspiration from “traditional homes in the South of France.” If Lady Gaga did indeed buy it, it’s the Ikea-inspired perennial renter’s first home in SoCal, and Curbed is again sad to report that it’s a very “Chillin’ with Tony Bennett”-era Gaga home and not a pre-Miley, pre-Minaj crazy for crazy’s sake Gaga home, which would undoubtedly be more fun to look at. (It might looksomething like this.) Hopefully, she’ll channel that energy when she decorates.

Sited on six acres, the beachfront house has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a safe room, and an office with an attached gym and elevator. The grounds come with a saltwater pool, an eight-horse stable with a dressage ring, a guest cottage, and a bocce ball court. TheRedfin listing shows that it sold in early September for $23M.

It’s not QUITE Back to the Future, but Hendo Hover of Los Gatos, California has created a real-life hoverboard that uses magnetic fields to hover one inch off the ground. Well, one inch off the ground “above special surfaces.” The company has launched a Kickstarter campaign to build development kits for the board and help create areas to ride them. I initially approached the floating pallet with caution, expecting it to dip and bob under my weight like a piece of driftwood. It didn’t. The levitating board wiggled slightly under my 200-pound frame, but maintained its altitude (a mere inch or so) without visible strain. Arx Pax tells me that the current prototype can easily support 300 pounds and future versions will be able to hold up to 500 pounds without issue. Either way, you’ll need to hover over a very specific kind of surface to get it to hold anything: The Hendo uses the same kind of electromagnetic field technology that floats MagLev trains — meaning it will only levitate over non-ferrous metals like copper or aluminum.

Riding the contraption was a lot fun, but also quite the challenge: The Hendo hoverboard doesn’t ride at all like McFly’s flying skateboard. In fact, without a propulsion system, it tends to drift aimlessly. Arx Pax founder and Hendo inventor Greg Henderson says it’s something the company is working on. “We can impart a bias,” he tells me, pointing out pressure-sensitive pads on the hoverboard’s deck that manipulate the engines. “We can turn on or off different axes of movement.” Sure enough, leaning on one side of the board convinces it to rotate and drift in the desired direction. Without feeling the friction of the ground, however, I had trouble knowing how much pressure to exert — Henderson’s staff had to jump in and save me from spinning out of control. Clearly, this might take some practice.

As fun as its current form is, Henderson didn’t necessarily set out to reinvent transportation. The Hendo engine’s original inspiration came from architecture. “It came from the idea of hovering a building out of harm’s way,” he says. “If you can levitate a train that weighs 50,000 kilograms, why not a house?” After some prodding, he clarifies the idea as a sort of emergency lifting system that could theoretically raise a building off of its foundation during an earthquake, essentially rendering the natural disaster’s tremors harmless. The idea sounds as fictional as, well, a hoverboard — but he already built one of those. Henderson says that floating a building is a long-term goal. Right now, the technology is in its early stages, and he’s just trying to get it in the hands of engineers with big ideas.

Backers who contribute to the company’s Kickstarter at the $100 level will be eligible for a five-minute ride on one of the company’s prototype boards, and $1,000 buys a privately coached hour-long ride. Not content with merely renting hover-time? Okay, okay: The first 10 backers to contribute $10,000 will get a hoverboard to keep. The delivery date? 10/21/2015 — the date Marty McFly arrives in the future.

So far, 560 backers have pledged $122,336 of a $250,000 goal, with 54 to go. THE FUTURE IS COMING! THE FUTURE IS COMING!

Ryan Murphy had said that some of the crew had to leave the set at times because you were so scary.
There were many evenings where I was standing kind of apart from them — as you see in the first two episodes; Twisty lives a solitary life. There were times I’d be sitting on the set and I would creep people out. In the first episode, where all of the people in the Freak Show are dismantling the body of the detective, I was standing apart as I was in the shot. Afterward I walked by and everyone was like, “Man, you’re really freaky over there.” I love that fact that people are dismantling a body on one side of the screen and then [people tell me] “I’m scared of you.” [Laughs.]

Do you think it’s mostly your costume that’s so freaky, or are you in full character the whole time on set?
I think a lot of it has to do with people’s general fear of clowns and fear of people in masks. But I also think it’s this kind of kooky discomfort around this person where you don’t know what his agenda is.

So far, it seems like he’s possibly collecting children on a bus. What can you say about his motive or mission?
I think that the show is about people, for one motivation or another, trying to get an audience. I think that’s as true of Twisty as it is of Elsa Mars. Why he wants an audience, I can’t tell you. But there certainly appears to be a need for one.

He also doesn’t take advantage of opportunities to kill everyone. He could’ve killed Gloria Mott, or even Patti LaBelle’s housekeeper, Nora, but he spared them.
Yes, that’s right. He could’ve killed Dandy Mott, but doesn’t. They don’t fit the bill somehow.

At the end of Episode 2, Twisty starts to work with Dandy. He doesn’t seem like the type of guy to work well with a partner. How will their relationship work out?
I think it’s funny how it unfolds, and I wondered about that myself. There must be something of a kindred spirit in the two of them. Certainly that’s true of Dandy. I think their agendas don’t quite fit together. From Twisty’s point of view, by the end of the episodes, he recognizes something inside of him.

What can you say about his relationship to the Freak Show?
He’s most definitely not a part of the Freak Show, I will tell you that. They’re very important to why he’s doing what he’s doing. Had they chosen another town, none of this may have happened.

So his murders are timed to the Freak Show starting up again?
Oh, without a doubt. Everything that’s happening to Twisty is tied to the Freak Show.

FINALLY! The entire cast of Growing Up Gotti will be reuniting after ten years for a special on A&E. The series followed mob boss John Gotti’s daughter and her three sons who were victim to every fashion mishap of the mid-2000s. The reunion premieres November 10th, set your DVRs now.

A&E made the Gotti family an offer they couldn’t refuse.

The network is reuniting mob boss John Gotti’s daughter Victoria and her sons for a special to mark the 10th anniversary of “Growing Up Gotti.”

The special, which is set to air 9 p.m. Nov. 10, will give viewers a chance to see how much the now twenty-somethings Carmine, John and Frank (and their hair) have grown from the heyday of their 2004-5 reality television series.

“Growing Up Gotti” lasted three seasons, but courted plenty of controversy from critics who felt the show glorified organized crime because of the family’s notorious history.

“My life is hilarious, hilarious,”Victoria Gotti told the News before the show’s 2004 launch.

Director and writer J.B. Ghuman Jr. (Spork, Good Girl Freak Out/Double Duchess) just sent me this epic visual he created, an homage  to civil rights activist Rosa Parks, featuring gay hip-hop songstress iRAWniQ and actress Tatum O’neal. The video starts with Parks speaking about that historic day in Alabama when she refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger. Ghuman uses this as a preface and poignant parallel  to iRAWniQ’s lyrics about a woman’s first time being introduced to another woman’s “foreign territory…being an alien to pussy”. “There are seven looks total in the video”, says Ghuman. “Each chapter is titled for easy reference…for anyone whose interest is piqued, so they can figure out the bigger picture, if it doesn’t slam dunk you in the face.” I can’t begin to explain the levels of beauty in this piece. Ghuman is a phenom, just beginning his mission to fix all us screwed up plebeians.

My one quibble is that suddenly Johnny Depp thinks he’s Richard Burton. Richard Burton doing Shaft. Really, who allowed him to have wardrobe input? You know it was HIS IDEA to make the Big Bad Wolf into a pimp. God, he’s just the WORST.

And I didn’t even know it! Cutie-pie Chris was a member of Dream Street for it’s entire run (1999-2002), then went on to star on the popular Disney show Shake It Up where he played teen “it” boy Justin Starr. Thank you to everyone who pointed it out to me, here’s an extended cut of our conversation. SWOOOON! I LOVE YOU CHRIS!
