Did You Know the #MetGala Was Just a Front for “Satanic Rituals”? These YouTube Videos Spill the Dark Secrets. Watch

While searching for some video of Madonna performing at the Met Gala for my previous post, I stumbled across this video that if it wasn’t deadly serious, you’d think was satire. It states up front,

The Met Gala occurs every year and its the same thing year in and year out. The theme for this year you would think would be enough to get people aware of what’s going on….

Whak? Well, the theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination and to hear the narrator tell the story, Madonna is a high ranking Kaballah witch and the celebrities are there, not to celebrate religious imagery in fashion, but rather they are making fun of it.

To quote Beyoncé (who wasn’t there this year)

Y’all haters corny with that illuminati mess
Paparazzi, catch my fly, and my cocky fresh
I’m so reckless when I rock my Givenchy dress (stylin’)
I’m so possessive so I rock his Roc necklaces

There’s another video that defies description too, but if you want a laugh,

watch.

Convicted Child Rapist Roman Polanski Dismisses #MeToo Movement as “Mass Hysteria” and “Hypocrisy”

$

I know, I know: Why am I giving this POS the satisfaction of quoting him? And why would anything he has to say be of any interest at all? Well, I suppose it’s always important to call out villains acting villainously so that we don’t normalize them. And the hypocrisy of Roman Polanski calling the #metoo movement hypocritical is mind blowing, to say the very least. So let’s get on with the story and then move on with our day.

Just days before he was expelled from the Academy of Motion Pictures (along with Bill Cosby), disgraced director Roma Polanski dismissed the #MeToo movement as ‘mass hysteria’ and ‘hypocrisy.’

In the new interview, Polanski compared #MeToo, which has seen women all over the world speak out about sexual harassment and assault, to 16th century massacres of protestant Christians in France.

Polanski told this week’s edition of Newsweek Polska: ‘I think this is the kind of mass hysteria that occurs in society from time to time.’

‘Sometimes it’s very dramatic, like the French Revolution or the St Bartholomew’s Day massacre in France, or sometimes it’s less bloody, like 1968 in Poland or McCarthyism in the US,’ he added.

‘Everyone is trying to back this movement, mainly out of fear… I think it’s total hypocrisy.’

Social media was quick to pounce:

Twitter user ShomahKhoobi wrote: Filmmaker Roman Polanski calls the #MeToo movement ‘mass hysteria’. Because men who rape children, then flee the country should always be looked to for great wisdom and reason.

User daisy_razor quipped that; ‘Asking Roman Polanski about #metoo is like asking an arsonist what he thinks of the fire department.’

American comedian Sean Kent posted:  ‘Roman Polanski drugged and anally raped a 13 year old girl. So whatever he says about #MeToo literally doesn’t matter.’

Singer-songwriter and activist  Holly Figueroa O’Reilly wrote: ‘Child rapist Roman Polanski calls the #MeToo movement ‘collective hysteria’ and ‘total hypocrisy.’

‘If standing up against everything from sexual misconduct to rape is ‘hysteria and hypocrisy’, I’m proud to be a hysterical hypocrite.’

#Controversy: Kanye West Gets READ TO FILTH in a Devastating Essay– “I’m Not Black, I’m Kanye”

$
0
0

A week ago (which with today’s news cycle seems like a year ago) Kanye West said that slavery was a “choice,” blaming enslaved black people for not freeing themselves sooner.

He said putting Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill made him want “to use Bitcoin,” because,

It’s like when you see all the slave movies: Why you gotta keep reminding us about slavery?

And he said that icons like Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X are

just too far in the past and not relatable and that’s what makes them safe.

I know. Eyes were rolling down the street. But going beyond the usual STFU on Twitter, and the usual snarky clap back, Ta-Nehisi Coates penned this biting essay in The Atlantic, I’m Not Black, I’m Kanye, which according to The Washington Post,

“reads like a eulogy for something lost at the same time that it is a takedown of West for his ‘ignorance,’ which Coates described as ‘not merely deep, but also dangerous.’ He compares West to both President Trump and Michael Jackson. And he laments West’s evolution from a hip-hop revolutionary — ‘a god’ who ‘made music for them, for the young and futuristic’ — to a revolutionary who is also a blustery ‘mouthpiece’ for the types of theories and beliefs that play down racism in America.”

Coates joined Snoop Dogg, Janelle Monae, Jordan Peele, John Legend, Samuel L. Jackson and others in blasting West’s comments.

“Kanye West, a god in this time, awakened, recently, from a long public slumber to embrace Donald Trump. He hailed Trump, as a ‘brother,’ a fellow bearer of ‘dragon energy,’ and impugned those who objected as suppressors of ‘unpopular questions,’ “thought police” whose tactics were ‘based on fear.’ It was Trump, West argued, not Obama, who gave him hope that a black boy from the South Side of Chicago could be president.

Remember like when I said I was gonna run for president?

Kanye said in an interview with the radio host Charlamagne Tha God.

‘I had people close to me, friends of mine, making jokes, making memes, talking shit. Now it’s like, oh, that was proven that that could have happened.

There is an undeniable logic here. Like Trump, West is a persistent bearer of slights large and small—but mostly small. (Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Barack Obama, and Nike all came in for a harangue.) Like Trump, West is narcissistic, “the greatest artist of all time,” he claimed, helming what would soon be “the biggest apparel company in human history.” And, like Trump, West is shockingly ignorant. Chicago was “the murder capital of the world,” West asserted, when in fact Chicago is not even the murder capital of America. West’s ignorance is not merely deep, but also dangerous. For if Chicago truly is “the murder capital of the world,” then perhaps it is in need of the federal occupation threatened by Trump.

It is so hard to honestly discuss the menace without forgetting. It is hard because what happened to America in 2016 has long been happening in America, before there was an America, when the first Carib was bayoneted and the first African delivered up in chains. It is hard to express the depth of the emergency without bowing to the myth of past American unity, when in fact American unity has always been the unity of conquistadors and colonizers—unity premised on Indian killings, land grabs, noble internments, and the gallant General Lee. Here is a country that specializes in defining its own deviancy down so that the criminal, the immoral, and the absurd become the baseline, so that even now, amidst the long tragedy and this lately disaster, the guardians of truth rally to the liar’s flag.

Nothing is new here. The tragedy is so old, but even within it there are actors—some who’ve chosen resistance, and some, like West, who, however blithely, have chosen collaboration.

West might plead ignorance—

I don’t have all the answers that a celebrity is supposed to have

he told Charlamagne. But no citizen claiming such a large portion of the public square as West can be granted reprieve. The planks of Trumpism are clear —the better banning of Muslims, the improved scapegoating of Latinos, the endorsement of racist conspiracy, the denialism of science, the cheering of economic charlatans, the urging on of barbarian cops and barbarian bosses, the cheering of torture, and the condemnation of whole countries. The pain of these policies is not equally distributed. Indeed the rule of Donald Trump is predicated on the infliction of maximum misery on West’s most ardent parishioners, the portions of America, the muck, that made the god Kanye possible.

And he is a god, though one born of a different time and a different need. Jackson rose in the last days of enigma and wonder; West, in an accessible age, when every fuck is a tweet and every defecation a status update. And perhaps, in that way, West has done something more remarkable, more amazing than Jackson, because he is a man of no mystery, overexposed, who holds the world’s attention through simply the consistent, amazing, near-peerless quality of his work.

What Kanye West seeks is what Michael Jackson sought—liberation from the dictates of that we. In his visit with West, the rapper T.I. was stunned to find that West, despite his endorsement of Trump, had never heard of the travel ban.

He don’t know the things that we know because he’s removed himself from society to a point where it don’t reach him,’

T.I. said. West calls his struggle the right to be a “free thinker,” and he is, indeed, championing a kind of freedom—a white freedom, freedom without consequence, freedom without criticism, freedom to be proud and ignorant; freedom to profit off a people in one moment and abandon them in the next; a Stand Your Ground freedom, freedom without responsibility, without hard memory; a Monticello without slavery, a Confederate freedom, the freedom of John C. Calhoun, not the freedom of Harriet Tubman, which calls you to risk your own; not the freedom of Nat Turner, which calls you to give even more, but a conqueror’s freedom, freedom of the strong built on antipathy or indifference to the weak, the freedom of rape buttons, pussy grabbers, and fuck you anyway, bitch; freedom of oil and invisible wars, the freedom of suburbs drawn with red lines, the white freedom of Calabasas.”

There’s more, a LOT more. You can read the full essay here. Get a cocktail (or two) it’s a long one, but the best thing you’ll read all week I’ll bet.

Harry Styles Is Executive Producing a CBS Sitcom About His Life Starring… Damon Wayans Jr

Not as weird as it first sounds…

CBS announced today that they are moving forward with a new Damon Wayans Jr sitcom that will be executive produced by The Late Late Show with James Corden EP Ben Winston and is inspired by the time he and prettyboy pop star Harry Styles lived together. Which explains why Harry will serve as executive producer.

The untitled Damon Wayans Jr. comedy revolves around Peter (Wayans) and Claire, a thirtysomething couple who are tired of their mundane life and start to reconnect with their younger, cooler selves when an emerging pop star, who is drawn to their super-normal suburban life, moves in.

Got it. This might be the first CBS sitcom I’ve watched since… All In the Family.

Georgina Chapman Breaks Her Silence on Husband Harvey Weinstein: “I’m a Woman In a Sh*t Situation”

$
0
0

Marchesa designer and estranged wife of Harvey Weinstein, Georgina Chapman, spoke to Vogue about the scandal that brought down her husband and just where that leaves her and her company now. Fascinating stuff… if you are willing to believe she had absolutely no idea what was really going on with him.

A few choice quotes:

“I don’t want to be viewed as a victim because I don’t think I am. I am a woman in a s—t situation, but it’s not unique.”

She says she didn’t go out for 5 months, first hiding out at the home of her longtime friends, actor David Oyelowo and his wife, and then at her parents’ house: “I was so humiliated and so broken … that I didn’t think it was respectful to go out. I thought, ‘Who am I to be parading around with all of this going on?’ It’s still so very, very raw. I was walking up the stairs the other day and I stopped; it was like all the air had been punched out of my lungs.”

She says she was never suspicious of her husband: “That’s what makes this so incredibly painful: I had what I thought was a very happy marriage. I loved my life. I’ve never been one of those people who obsesses about where someone is.

“My head was spinning. And it was difficult because the first article was about a time long before I’d ever met him, so there was a minute where I couldn’t make an informed decision. And then the stories expanded and I realized that this wasn’t an isolated incident. And I knew that I needed to step away and take the kids out of here” (she and Weinstein share a son, 5, and a daughter, 7).

“There was a part of me that was terribly naive — clearly, so naive. I have moments of rage, I have moments of confusion, I have moments of disbelief! And I have moments when I just cry for my children. What are their lives going to be? What are people going to say to them? It’s like, they love their dad. They love him. I just can’t bear it for them.”

As for what attracted her to Weinstein, she says “Well, he’s a wonderful father to my kids. But initially? He’s charismatic. He’s an incredibly bright, very learned man. And very charitable. He paid for a friend of mine’s mother, who had breast cancer, to go to a top doctor. He was amazing like that. He is amazing like that. That is the tough part of this … this black-and-white thing … life isn’t like that. … He was a wonderful partner to me. He was a friend and a confidant and a supporter.”

It has been revealed that Weinstein pressured a number of actresses over the years to wear his wife’s gowns on the red carpet, in exchange for his support. Chapman wants to make it clear that the absence of Marchesa gowns on starlets for the past six months (Scarlett Johansson was the first A-lister to wear Marchesa since the scandal broke, to the Met Gala just this week) was her choice, and not a consequence of stars refusing to wear her clothes: “We didn’t feel it was appropriate [to dress stars] given the situation. All the women who have been hurt deserve dignity and respect, so I want to give it the time it deserves. It’s a time for mourning, really… [But] a lot of people reached out and said, ‘Let me wear something.’”

#QueerQuote: ”One Constantly Has to Break Oneself to Pieces.” – Liv Ullmann

$

Photo via YouTube

Ingmar Bergman is one of most important directors in Film History. His films explore the angst and doubt inherent in the human experience like few other filmmakers. Bergman’s muse, lover, longtime friend and collaborator, Liv Ullmann starred in nine Bergman movies, from Persona (1966) to Saraband (2003). She frequently worked opposite either Max von Sydow or Erland Josephson, men who critics and film historians say are stand-ins for Bergman himself. Asked which actor best represented Bergman, Ullmann said:

”I’ll tell you who it was: It was me.”

”He saw that I recognized something about him in Persona, although I couldn’t verbalize it. It was a difficult time in his life. I knew I was him, and he didn’t want to talk, because talk was wasted. He wanted to listen, was watching people and he was listening. I knew I was him. And other movies that I did, I knew I got lines that were not made for a woman, but which he allowed a woman to be a man’s voice. I might have taken parts from Max and Erland, actually!”

Bergman and Ullmann had one of the great director-actor relationships of all time. Ullmann was a major presence on the art house circuit during the 1960s and 1970s, a Golden Age of European Filmmaking, receiving two Academy Award nominations; for Jan Troell‘s The Emigrants (1971) and Bergman’s Face To Face (1976), and two BAFTA Award nominations for Scenes From A Marriage (1973) and Face To Face, along with a more mixed success in mainstream films during her ten years in Hollywood: Lost Horizon (1973), A Bridge Too Far (1977), and The Rose Garden (1989), among others.

Ullmann and Bergman famously became a couple for a few years. Ullmann was 25-years-old when she first met Bergman, who was a 46-years-old married man at the time. After their breakup, the friendship deepened, and they remained close until his passing in 2007 at 89-years-old; leaving this world at his home on the island of Fårö on the same day another renowned film director, Michelangelo Antonioni, also died.

Ullmann directed two of Bergman’s screenplays Private Confessions (1996) and Faithless (2000), and in 2014, she directed a screen adaptation of August Strindberg‘s Miss Julie, starring Jessica Chastain, Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton, currently streaming on Netflix.

Toward the end of Bergman’s life, they communicated mostly by telephone and letters, but Ullmann says she was with him on the day he died:

”I was in Norway when I knew he was not well anymore, and I just felt I had to go and see him, I just felt it one day. It was the first and only time I hired a private plane. We couldn’t talk, but I could hold his hand and I thanked him for so many things, and then in the last movie we did, which was Saraband, my character goes to visit her ex-husband in a hospital, and he says: ‘Why did you come?’ and she says: ‘You called for me’. So, I thought because here was the actor and here was the director, I thought maybe he’d like that. So, I said, ‘You wonder why I came. I came because you called for me’.”

With Bergman, photo via YouTube

I can think of three Bergman films that have characters that are queer, either subliminally or explicitly. In Persona, Elisabet (Ullmann) is an actor who has suffered a nervous breakdown. She is cared for by a nurse, Alma, played by Bibi Andersson. They become intensely intimate. They become so close that Alma essentially replaces Elisabet. In Face To Face, Ullmann plays Dr. Jenny Isaksson who has it bad for another doctor played by Erland Josephson, but he is into other guys. Sadly, Dr. Jenny suffers a breakdown, because that’s what you do in a Bergman flick. The Life Of Marionettes (1980) concerns the crumbling relationship of Katarina and Peter Egermann the couple from Bergman’s earlier Scenes From A Marriage. Peter’s shrink suggests that he is probably gay, while at the same time, Katarina’s friend Tim is open about his own same-sex desires. It is all very angsty.

Ullmann has said that she liked watching The Apprentice. or, rather, she liked it when Trump would go in and out of rooms. Ullmann:

”I find it tremendously interesting, his entrances and exits. I can’t believe someone is doing this and taking it so seriously! If you made a movie about such a man, you would tell them they were overacting.”

Tempest DuJour On the Challenges of Being OOOOOOOOLD (and the “Well-Seasoned Queens” Panel She’s Moderating at DragCon)

Ahead of Sunday’s blockbuster panel discussion on “Oldies But Goodies: Well Seasoned Queens” at #RuPaulsDragCon, I sat down with fellow drag granny Tempest DuJour to discuss the joys and irritations of being older than the hills.

JAMES ST JAMES: So. Apparently we’re old.

TEMPEST DUJOUR: Evidently!

JSJ: I saw someone on Twitter asked Pandora Boxxx about the panel and she was offended. “I’m not old!” she huffed.

TDJ: (Laughter) Right. I’m surprised to see her on it. I was surprised she’s considered old.

JSJ: Were you offended when they asked you to be on the panel?

TDJ: God No! When I was on season 7 I knew I was the oldest girl ever on the show up that point. I suspect that there are a couple girls up there that never admitted it. They just have better doctors than I do.

JSJ: Does age bother you?

TDJ No, I never considered it until the show made a deal out of it. My age has always been a badge of honor for me. I know we live in an ageist world, but I’m not trying to hide it. I’m proud of it.

JSJ: What challenges do you think we face that the younger queens don’t?

TDJ: In general our culture is youth obsessed. If you don’t look 21 you don’t necessarily get the attention that pays the bills. Everything is aimed at youth and all that stuff. Put me on the stage with some of these 20 year olds and I’ll show you what the difference is. I don’t see a difference in energy level, but the difference to me, and it’s gonna sound cliche, but not sweating the small stuff. The show is gonna go on, no matter what happens, if I blow a zipper, break a heel, my life is not over. The younger kids flip out and get stressed about every little thing… I care deeply and care about the quality of the show, but I’m not going to let little things bother me. It’s an age thing in general to not sweat the small stuff.

JSJ: What makes you feel old? I get the kids in the office calling me gramps whenever I don’t know how to do something on social media… That gets my goat every time.

TDJ: That’s interesting because I don’t think I see my self that way because I’m around 18 to 20 year olds every day. I still catch myself thinking I’m part of that group, but I’m three times their age. I snap in and out of that. With my own kids, they don’t make me feel old and that may be because they’re not old yet. I feel like the wisdom that comes with age is like my armor.

JSJ: I’ve met some queens still doing drag in their ’70s and ’80s. Will that be you? (I know I look forward to being an eccentric old nut job)

TDJ: Oh god no! Well, I don’t know. I thought about it recently. How long am I going to do this? Very recently I’ve started to question, how long is too long? I dream of that [being an eccentric old nutty queen]. The joy of age to me is not giving a fuck. I can fart int he grocery store. I don’t give a fuck in or out of drag.

JSJ: Tell us about your booth at DragCon and what we can look forward to seeing? What’re the looks and how long did you it take you to cook them up?

TDJ: I am sharing a booth with Mrs. Kasha Davis and Darienne Lake. We have a mature vibe going in our booth space. We have an awkward family photo theme. We wanna have fun with it. I feel like the vibe in our world is turning from so much youth obsessed to appreciating older people. Like it’s the new cool in a way. Maybe it’s just my imagination and justifying how I feel. I would never trade this, I love being the old girl.

JSJ: I would never go back to my 20s.

TDJ: AMEN!

JSJ: When you think about all the stress of “am i going to be a success,” “what is going to happen with my life” and always worrying and climbing and trying, I would never do it.

TDJ: Yeah, I’m with you. There’s no regrets. It’s just looking forward. Part of it for me is knowing i have these two little lives that depend on me for their existence and it changes my perspective on everything.

JSJ: Totally. Thanx for chatting, lover, and see you tomorrow! Happy DragCon!

TDJ: See you tomorrow!

Milk and the Flawless Mother Sabrina

With RuPaul’s DragCon LA set to open today, let’s take a moment to clock those of who came before. Some of the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 3 are here to give us a brief history of drag’s cultural influences.

Thorgy Thor, Chi Chi DeVayne, BenDeLaCreme, Morgan McMichaels, Kennedy Davenport, Shangela, Trixie Mattel, Milk, and Aja tell Allure magazine when drag became part of popular culture, and remember some fierce queens who helped inspire it’s origins.

“Drag” is a theater term that originated to refer to performers dressing in clothing typically worn by the opposite sex. Chi Chi says, it

“describes the action of long skirts dragging on the stage on the floor.

(It’s also an acronym: Dressed Resembling A Girl)

Drag made its way into vaudeville in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, there was the boom of underground gay bars in the 20s and 30s, followed by police crackdowns on the gay community in the 50s and 60s and in ’69, the Stonewall Riots was the start of the modern gay rights movement.

Over those decades, iconic figures have emerged in the drag community like Flawless Sabrina, who Thorgy Thor says,

organized multiple drag queen pageants across the United States, was arrested numerous times, and even appeared in drag on several talk shows — which was groundbreaking for the time.

The late Flawless Sabrina, who passed away last year, was celebrated last night in NYC with a tribute at Town Hall produced by Daniel Nardicio, and hosted by drag legend, Linda Simpson. Synchronicity. The Gods and Goddesses of drag must be smiling down today.

From 10 Year-Old Desmond to Bob the Drag Queen, Drag is Having More Than a Moment– “It’s the Last Underdog Art Form” Watch

RuPaul’s DragCon LA is happening RIGHT NOW. Wonder why drag is having such a moment (besides the obvious reasons?)

10 year-old Desmond, who is as old as the Drag Race itself, was introduced to drag after watching the show. He’s obssesed ever since.

In an interview for this episode Hype & Influence, Bob the Drag Queen says why drag is the ultimate art form for the underdog,

Drag went from being referential to being the reference, which is crazy. People pull from drag culture because drag artists are -it’s the ultimate art form and it’s the last underdog art form. I mean, even clowns have college, you know what I mean? Drag queens, you have to learn drag from another drag queens.

Ryan Murphy announced on social media this week that he will donate all profits from his upcoming FX series Pose to various trans and LGBTQ charities.

“These groups do amazing work and need our support,” he said. “Every day for the next 14 days I will highlight a group I’m supporting, and encourage you to do the same!”

According to Deadline: Pose is set in 1986 and “examines the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York City: the emergence of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world.”

It premieres on FX Sunday, June 3, and features the largest cast of trans actors in series regular roles in history. Another reason to love Mr Murphy.

via Gay Times:

They are MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar, and Angelica Ross, and they’ll all be playing transgender characters. The announcement of their roles followed a six-month nationwide search by casting director Alexa Fogel.

The series will also feature the largest recurring LGBTQ cast ever for a scripted US TV series.

“Along with being a dance musical and an affirming look at American life in the 1980s, I’m so proud that Pose and FX have made history right from the beginning by featuring the most trans series regular actor ever in an American television production,” Murphy said.

“Additionally, the first season of Pose will feature 50-plus LGBTQ characters – a record in American television history.”

Joining the aforementioned actors are Evan Peters, Kate Mara, James Van Der Beek, Ryan Jamaal Swain, Dyllon Burnside, and Billy Porter, who plays the master of ceremonies.

Behind the scenes, co-creator Steven Canals has been writing scripts for the series alongside Transparent writer and producer Our Lady J and trans activist and author Janet Mock.
