Author Michael Wolff Gives Clues To Trump’s Current WH Affair in “Fire and Fury” (Is It Nikki Haley!?)

0
0

HBO‘s Real Time returned last night after being off for two months and it started off with a bang. At the top of the show, in an interview Bill Maher asked Fire and Fury author Michael Wolff whether Trump was “fucking” anyone “right now.”

Wollf paused and said,

Yes. You just have to read between the lines. Now that I’ve told you, when you hit that paragraph, you’ll say bingo.

Maher said that Trump must hate being in The White House because it’s much harder to have illicit affairs. But Wolff said Trump could have an affair without anyone noticing, because

there are back doors.

To which Maher replied,

There are back doors? Oh, it’s a gay liaison!

It’s Sean Spicer!”

All gay jokes aside (I wasn’t offended but I’ll bet some were) the first person I thought of was WH communications director Hope Hicks, but my book just arrived yesterday and I don’t want to skip to the back just yet to find out.

But Twitter was on it right away, of course, to try to guess the identity of the mystery woman, saying that it might be US Envoy to the UN, Nikki Haley. Read the tweets below…

And Wolff’s latest “bombshell” comes on the eve of Trump’s first year in office (it seems like a decade) bearing gifts like the hoopla over Trump’s alleged affair and payoff of then porn star Stormy Daniels, shutting down the government AND being under investigation for colluding with Russia.

Happy Anniversary! #TrumpShutdown

Catholic Boys School Was Forced to Cover Statue After Social Media Goes Nuts About Its Awkward Design…

0
0

The Blackfriars Priory School in Adelaide Australia unveiled a new statue last year of St. Dominic giving a young boy a loaf of bread in a questionable pose.

The design has a boy kneeling at the foot of the 12th century Spanish-born saint who is giving him a phallic-shaped loaf of bread, crotch-level. Apparently, the principal at the all boys Catholic school was forced to cover up the statue of the saint and said the oversight was due to only seeing the design in two-dimensions.

The statue was covered with a black cloth after students took photos posted them on social media, the Adelaide Advertiser reports.

Some have wondered about the design process…

“Was there seriously no one that looked at this before it was installed?”

But another woman suggested it was an innocent statue,

“He’s just giving the boy some bread.”

I don’t know about you, but I have eyes that work in both 2 and 3 dimensions…

SLOW DISSOLVE TO FADE OUT

What is with the tortured, tragic lives of great fashion designers?

Christian Dior was one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century.

He was born in Normandy, the heir to a French fertilizer fortune. As a child, Dior loved to draw and he was able to sell his sketches for a few coins. In his early 20s, Dior’s father financed a small Paris art gallery for his talented son.

Starting as a sketch artist, Dior worked his way up to a designer in The House Of Piguet. He left his position there to serve in the French Army, but after WW II, Dior established his own fashion house with the backing of his lover, a very wealthy textile magnate. Within 12 years he expanded his business to 15 countries and he employed over 2,000 people.

Dior is known mostly for a look which employed narrow shoulders, a constricted waist, an emphasized bust, and a long, wide skirt, all in striking contrast to the severity of wartime fashions. His designs represented consistent classic elegance.

Dior’s “The New Look” revolutionized women’s clothing and reestablished Paris as the center of the fashion world after WW II. He spread his fashions around the world when he and his partner, Jacques Rouet, started franchises in the fashion industry. In 1953, Yves Saint-Laurent became Dior’s assistant and was destined to be his successor but was reluctantly forced to leave when the time came for his own military service, if you can imagine such a thing.

Via Youtube

Dior introduced its first collection called “Ligne Corolle” with ultra-feminine dresses, inspired by the French fashion of the late 19th century. Elegance and charm distinguished his creations. He experimented with new silhouettes and new lengths, using sophisticated and luxurious materials. The Dior woman had rounded shoulders, long flared skirts that were eight inches from the ground, wide, flat hats, the famous corset, long gloves and high heels.

It was in direct contrast with fellow French designer Coco Chanel’s style, which in that era had allowed women to enjoy stylistic freedom. Instead, Dior gave a romantic, elegant, feminine model for women.  His clothes were works of art, built and structured in every detail that only in the mid-1950s moved to lighter, more comfortable, simpler lines. Dior was the first to associate the style of accessories to the lines of clothing, selling bags, shoes, scents and cosmetics.

His favorite places to sketch were in his bathtub or bed. In 1957, Dior became the first designer to be featured on a cover of Time Magazine, proving that he was true fashion royalty. Hollywood embraced Dior’s designs and the world’s most elegant and fashionable women chose his dresses; the Duchess Of WindsorRita Hayworth, and Ava Gardner were regular clients. Dior designed Marlene Dietrich’s entire wardrobe for Stage Fright (1950) directed by Alfred Hitchcock (who never wore Dior).

Towards the end of his life, Dior had a hectic round of special injections to wake up in the morning, injections for his appetite, and more injections to sleep. His niece, who was his favorite relative, openly blamed Dior’s Jewish manager who procured his medications, along with Dior’s collection of hot young men, for being part of a Jewish plot forcing him towards his death. Dior found himself at odds with his family as his wealth grew and he eventually disinherited the entire bunch.

“Finally, everything that has been part of my life, whether I wanted it to or not, has expressed itself in my dresses.”

Bisexual, with many lovers of both sexes, Dior’s last companion was Jacques Benita, a young Algerian singer, who he met in 1956 and who, from that time, had to be included in everything on Dior’s social calendar. After the Fall 1957 Collection, Dior was desperate for a rest and decided to take Benita to Tuscany, despite the warnings of his astrologer, who was very much against the vacation. Dior was so infatuated with Benita that he decided to diet to try to become more attractive, even though Benita said this really was not necessary. Dior was a drug addict who was taken from this world by an overdose while enjoying a special sexual liaison. He was just 52-years-old when he went.

At the time of his passing, Dior salons had been opened in 24 countries. The House Of Dior, led by designers Yves Saint Laurent, then Marc Bohan, continues to be a fashion leader and is now associated with a much wider range of merchandise: men’s wear, household linens, and fragrances.

Vogue September 1958, photo Donald Siverstein

Dior was a classic designer and he was a star. His life was filled with parties, exquisite things, pretty boys, illegal substances… all the things that famous people eat, feel, and own.

I came from the people

They need to adore me

So Christian Dior me from my head to my toes

I need to be dazzling

I want to be Rainbow High

They must have excitement

And so must I

#QueerQuote: “The Most Common Way People Give Up Their Power is by Thinking They Don’t Have Any.” – Alice Walker

Alice Walker (born 1944) is an American writer and activist. She wrote the novel The Color Purple (1982) for which she won the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize, among many other works. Her work is focused on the struggles of black people, particularly women, and their lives in a racist, sexist, violent American society.

When she was a student at Spelman College in the early 1960s, Walker became an activist in the Civil Rights Movement. She took part in the 1963 March On Washington. Later, she volunteered to register black voters in Georgia and Mississippi.

OnInternational Women’s Day 2003, on the eve of the Iraq War, Walker was arrested with 26 others, including fellow authors Maxine Hong Kingston at a protest outside the White House. Walker:

“I was with other women who believe that the women and children of Iraq are just as dear as the women and children in our families, and that, in fact, we are one family. And so it would have felt to me that we were going over to actually bomb ourselves.”

In March 2009, Walker and 60 other female activists from the anti-war group Code Pink traveled to Gaza in response to the Gaza War. Their purpose was to deliver aid, to meet with residents, and to persuade Israel and Egypt to open their borders with Gaza. She wrote about her meeting with an elderly Palestinian woman who, upon accepting a gift from Walker, said: “May God protect you from the Jews”. Walker responded, “It’s too late, I already married one”, referring to her former husband, a civil rights lawyer.

In June 2013, Walker appeared in a video showing support for Chelsea Manning, the trans woman American soldier imprisoned for releasing classified information.

Walker met her Jewish husband. Melvyn Rosenman Leventhal, in 1963. They married in 1967, in NYC. Later that year, the couple relocated to Jackson, Mississippi, becoming the first legally married inter-racial couple in Mississippi. They were harassed and threatened by whites, including the Ku Klux Klan.

In the mid-1990s, Walker began a romance with singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman, saying “It was delicious and lovely and wonderful and I totally enjoyed it and I was completely in love with her but it was not anybody’s business but ours”. Walker claims she is bisexual out of curiosity.

#ArtDept: Ancient Gay Erotic “The Warren Cup”

“The Warren Cup”, British Museum

Edward Perry Warren (1860-1928) was born into a fabulously wealthy family in Boston. He was taunted as a schoolboy for being a sissy. He kept a diary detailing his crushes on other boys, composing odes of love about favorite male classmates. Warren made no secret of the men he was attracted to, much to the dismay of his family.

Warren just wasn’t made for life in Puritanical New England, and he traveled to England so he could study at Oxford; an all-male university. Oxford was rife with consensual male-on-male sexual action between aristocratic, well-connected young men. Warren felt right at home wearing tweeds while courting his comely classmates. He furnished his rooms with the very best art, furniture, silver, porcelain and crystal.

He spoke out about the virtues of Greek. Several Oxford scholars focused on the homo-eroticism of ancient art and culture, and Warren was bitten. He decided to make a life for himself in England and he soon became a major force in buying, selling and collecting Etruscan, Greek and Roman art. He also wrote A Defence Of Uranian Love, a pamphlet that was printed privately. “Uranian” was a term used for ”homosexual” in the late nineteenth century.

At Oxford, Warren met John Marshall, a middle-class young man who was studying to be an Anglican vicar. They became lovers, and Marshall abandoned Theology for the Classics Department. After his father’s death in 1888, Warren began receiving an annual income of over a million dollars a year. The boys left Oxford the next year and began restoring a Georgian mansion, The Lewes House, into a showplace for ancient art.

Lewes House, East Sussex Historical Society

Marshall taught himself the value, provenance and authenticity of the pieces of art Warren was interested in, and became an especially skilled negotiator for the purchases. Warren was deliriously wealthy, and the couple began acquiring art to fill the vast rooms. Their collection rivaled those of famed collectors J. P. Morgan, Andrew Carnegie and Henry Frick. They became the most important collectors of classical antiquities in the world. Warren and Marshall eventually had complete control of the market. Almost everything that was good, whether a new find or already discovered, came to them for first refusal.

Warren commissioned an “anatomically enhanced” version of Auguste Rodin’s (1840 – 1917) Le Baiser, telling the sculptor that he wanted the male figure to be especially well-hung. Although earlier versions of the famous statue did not feature a visible penis, Rodin happily agreed. This sculpture was turned down by museums in America for being too explicit, but you can see it The Tate. Warren donated many pieces to the Boston Museum Of Fine Arts and NYC’s Metropolitan Museum included collections of vases and pottery depicting pornographic male images. The Boston Museum finally cataloged and exhibited a few of them in 1950, but the Met put theirs in storage, where they continue to sit uncataloged, unphotographed, unexhibited and unacknowledged. Warren’s gifts the Boston Museum Of Fine Arts make up 90% of its classical collection, regarded as one of the finest in the world.

A solid silver six-inch tall drinking goblet dating back to the first century was found near Jerusalem, and Warren purchased it from a dealer in Italy soon after its discovery. Known as The Warren Cup, it shows two scenes of a man and a boy having sex while a servant boy watches. The craftsmanship is exquisite, with finely detailed facial expressions, hair and draping.

Warren tried to sell it to museums in Europe and America, but no one would touch it because of its depiction of full-on anal sex between dudes. It is a major piece of classical work, but it stayed in Warren’s personal collection, and even subsequent owners refused put it on public display. Finally, in 1999, the British Museum purchased it for a huge sum, and photographs of its pornographic details were splashed all over England’s tabloid press. It continues to attract large crowds.

Handsome, single young men joined Warren-Marshall household, ostensibly to assist in cataloging the acquisitions. The couple kept homes in Maine, Boston, and England, but Warren spent most of their time in Italy and Greece purchasing classical art. Their letters reveal Marshall’s complaints of loneliness. He married one of Warren’s female cousins, who sought to end her unflattering designation as a spinster. They became advisers and purchasers of antiquities for the Metropolitan Museum Of Art, while Warren pursued young men. He used his vast wealth to sponsor the educations of numerous young men who showed promise but had no money. This arrangement started a stormy on-again, off-again relationship with Marshall. As they got older, the men became a couple again.

For three decades Warren, Marshall and the wife lived together with the men nestled together in the master bedroom while Marshall’s wife had her own rooms in the house. They took meals together and traveled as a trio. After the death of Marshall’s wife, the men took up residence at an apartment in Rome during the late winter of 1928. One night in February Marshall went to bed early, saying that he was not feeling well. Marshall was gone by the next morning. Warren never recovered, returned to England, where his own health rapidly declined. 10 months later, Warren joined Marshall.

Warren (l) with Marshall and their much loved terriers

Because he was open about his gayness, Warren’s family did not attend his funeral, and none of the museums to which he had donated numerous and priceless works of art sent a representative to the memorial service. The ashes of Warren, Marshall and the wife are all interred under a sculpted urn in a small village in Italy where the trio had often enjoyed the simple life.

#TrumpShutdown: New Re-Election Campaign Ad Accuses the Democrats of Murder!? Watch

0
0

Trump‘s reelection campaign, just hours into the #TrumpShutdown, released a right-wing ad accusing Democrats of being “complicit in all murders” committed by undocumented immigrants.

A recent courtroom outburst by Luis Bracamontes, a twice-deported undocumented immigrant accused of killing two Sacramento-area deputies in 2014 is used in the 30-second ad which labels Bracamontes as “pure evil.”

The video’s narration says,

Now Democrats who stand in our way will be complicit in every murder committed by illegal immigrants. President Trump will fix our border and keep our families safe.

Michael Glassner, the executive director of Trump’s reelection campaign committee, said the ad was intended to highlight,

the stark contrast between ‘complicit’ Democrats and the President for his full commitment to build a wall and fix our border to protect Americans from drugs, murder and other atrocities.

This is nonsense but it’s a window into the concerns of Trump supporters… talk about #FakeNews. It’s like accusing Trump of ALL deaths from Diabetes because he eats, and thereby promotes, McDonalds.

The ad comes out just as congressional leaders from both parties are trying to reach a deal to fund the government and find fix for DACA program.

The GOP and the White House say they will not discuss DACA until the government reopens, and Democrats are standing their ground that they will not vote for a continuing budget resolution until there are immigration talks.

Stalemate. But this, even according to Trump himself, is on the POTUS. In 2013 during the government shutdown, Trump said,

A shutdown falls on the President’s lack of leadership. He can’t even control his party… it means the President is weak.

For once, I agree with him.

Photographer Ruben Natal San Miguel Goes To Puerto Rico & Finds Hope Among the Devastation (The Queens Are Coming Back!)

0
0

Our friend Wowlebrity and photographer Ruben Natal-San Miguel just returned from Puerto Rico with some amazing pics of the island’s beauty amid the devastation as well as some gay nightlife in Old San Juan. The queens are not letting Trump‘s response keep them down for long. I caught up with Ruben to find out how these images came about.

Trey: So, how long did you stay this last trip?

Ruben: Almost 20days.

Trey: Wow. So you shot the exteriors during the day and then went out and shot at night?

Ruben: Well, I was there to cover the disaster aspect of it mostly but, one night in the Old San Juan, was curious of how the LGBTQ community was coping with all this and googled gay bars and there was one right around the corner from my hotel called Polo Norte. It is a beautiful bar with a storefront over 200 years old and was a former perfume factory and store.

I went in early and was told to show back at midnight because, there will be a cabaret drag show. Went back and was packed and was very sleek, elegant quite entertaining . I never go out anymore but, there was my answer about the LGBTQ community in PR. Resilence and the show must go on!

Trey: So, that was the attitude? Was it different in the day when you talked to people. Does everyone feel forgotten by the mainland U.S. or do they just blame Trump?

Ruben: Everyone was resentful and even in the show jokes were made about 45. But, the sense of community was there and gave me a sincere bout of hope. I needed that myself after witnessing, documenting, talking to victims and living through it myself as my family was directly affected by the Hurricane catastrophe.

One thing that most people don’t know is that most of the homes and business which were not physically affected the water damage was pretty serious. Water cane in gushing through the windows, ceilings and even underneath the doors, even on high rise apts. Winds reached 225 miles per hour!

We’ve seen pictures and yours are beautiful/horrific but to see it in person must be devastating considering you knew the island as it was intact.

Trey: Gotta love those queens putting on a show. Your wig gets blown off –get a new one and keep going!

Ruben: Yasss!

Trey: Is there anything we can do to help? I mean the average person, what do you think we should be doing? It seems like such a long road back…

Ruben: I think we need to promote tourism back to the Island. Tourism is one of the biggest industries there. I met the owner of Polo Norte and he is truly committed to help the island rise again. Getting the word out there of renewal and hope is very important. You know a lot of progress, rebuild and renewal comes first and most always from the LGBTQ community , so by witnessing this, it gave me a real sign of hope and faith.

Trey: I agree. But when do you think people can and will start going back. People need to feel like they can take a vacation there and not worry it’s too soon.

Ruben: People are already coming back. There were some areas ( like Old San Juan) , some homes and business that , were untouched and braved Hurricane Maria fury. All the most tourists destinations had been renovated or are being restored aggressively to meet the tourism demands. I stayed in hotels and they had most amenities functioning. But, more than everything we are know for great hospitality skills and that alone will place us back on the map again.

Trey: That’s encouraging to hear. The media keeps reporting that 50% are still without power, etc. Good to get the word out for a PR vacation. Just taking pics like you have helps a lot, I think. Thanks for going and sharing your work, Ruben! ❤

You can check out the Polo Norte Gay Lounge here on Facebook. Polo Norte Gay Lounge, Tetuan, 00901 San Juan, Puerto Rico. Free admission. Drag shows on Fridays + a DJ in the house every weekend.

#WomensMarch18: Photographer Meg Handler Hits the Streets of Chicago To Document the Resistance

Meg Handler

Like you, my news feed yesterday was filled with images of the Women’s March from coast to coast. People were out in the streets with pussy hats and signs from L.A. to Atlanta To New York City, and Austin (where it was the largest state demonstration ever!). My pal, documentary photographer Meg Handler was in Chicago posting some great stuff, including some resistance to the resistance. I asked her if I could share some images here. Meg messaged me back,

I didn’t give you captions for each photo. It’s pretty obvious. The people who look like Mennonites are not Mennonites, they are Church of God and they say they are not part of any denomination, they read the new testament. And they are all fire and brimstone. It sounded as scary as it looked. And then after the church people showed up, the Right to Lifers, about 5 of them came. They were immediately encircled by and escorted out by the police.

Reports are there were 300,000 people who marched here, but I suggest you fact check that. It did feel as big as last year, and that was 250,000.

You know I’m a huge World of Wonder fan, right? Since the Eyes of Tammy Faye!

Nerd News: Superman Is Back to Wearing His Red Underoos!

In the upcoming Action Comics #1000, Superman will be debuting a new costume – one that incoporates his new “52”updated look , but also includes the iconic red underwear-worn-on-the outside that we all lusted after as kids.

Supes has been through many costumes over his eighty years of existence, with the red trunks being an integral part of his costume costume since Action Comics #1 in 1938, predating even the iconic diamond-shaped S-shield in terms of longevity. After a brief period in the early ’90s when he bizarrely opted for a silver costume, he changed to a completely revamped look that came to be known as the Electric Blue era. Then, a few years ago, during what was dubbed the new 52, the artists also did away with those red trunks altogether, in order to give Henry Cavill’s big screen Superman an embossed design around his waist instead.

During this era he tragically looked like he was wearing a big onesie, and it was quite the boner killer.

via CBR:

It was eventually revealed that the Superman of the New 52 was not the same Superman who had existed prior to Flashpoint, and that character and his family had survived the continuity changes and set up a life in secret. This Superman at first wore a stealth suit similar to his ’90s resurrection outfit, but after the death of the New 52 Superman, made his public debut in a new costume designed by Jim Lee and Tom Derenick. This made the red belt even thinner and removed the red boots, giving the costume the appearance of a onesie. The most recent costume post-Superman Reborn was a pretty good compromise between an iconic look for Superman, even if it didn’t have the red trunks. The boots returned, the belt got a lot thicker without being bulky, and the buckle was recolored to yellow.

The return of Superman’s red trunks may not seem like an important change to some people, but it signifies a lot of what has made DC so welcoming and engaging since the dawn of Rebirth. It casts an eye back to what made DC’s characters work while pushing them forward, toward new stories. There may always be jokes about Superman “wearing his underwear outside out costume,” but DC always came across as defensive when changing it up. Superman exists in a realm outside of what’s cool or trendy in the moment, and the red trunks are a big part of that. It’s good to see them back.

“Neverland”: K-Pop’s First Openly Gay Star Holland Releases Lush, Must-See New Video

Very exciting news on the K-Pop front:  Newbie singer Holland makes his highly anticipated debut today with the release of his very first single, “Neverland,” which draws upon his own experiences of being openly gay.

Writes Soompi:

“Neverland” explores the feelings of a boy who just wants to avoid the countless times he’s experienced discrimination and escape to somewhere he can love freely. He also refreshingly portrays these emotions in the music video for “Neverland.” Notably, Holland is the very first openly gay idol.

Writes Billboard:

Holland is the first openly gay K-pop idol to debut, though MRSHLL, an alt-R&B artist, came out before releasing his first music last year, becoming the first Korean singer to begin his career while openly addressing his sexuality. Same-sex love is rarely addressed in K-pop and South Korea’s entertainment industry. Only a handful of celebrities, including the entertainer-entrepreneur Hong Seokcheon and the transgender singer Harisu, are publicly out.

Though Holland has no large agency backing, and was a relative unknown on the K-pop scene until last week, when he first started teasing his debut single, he has already caught the attention of many K-pop watchers who have been eager to see more diversity and LGBTQ+ representation in the Korean idol industry. Fans tuned in to see the first publicly out Korean idol debut, and “Neverland” racked up more than 700,000 views within 24 hours of its release. The song also spurred the worldwide trending hashtag #HollandDebutDay on Twitter.

Condragulations, Holland, and welcome to the community!
