Lloimincia Hall is a gymnast at LSU who also OWNS the best floor routine in the country. She’s scored perfect 10s on four separate occasions this season. The routine features some amazing dance moves. We’re pretty sure wouldn’t get that perfect 10 at the Olympics, because they require the (boring) ballet ideal of dance. Hello!? This ain’t the Olympics, kids. It’s SEC gymnastics and it’s flawless. Plus, where else would you have THIS many fans turn up for a college gymnastics meet and flip out over a floor routine? NYC electronic rock project Dangerous Muse, led by charismatic songwriter and vocalist Mike Furey, has released a “visual offering” for their new single “Fame Kills.” Part music video, part surrealist fashion event, and part conceptual art happening, it’s a a startling look into the mind of one of downtown’s most interesting personalities.  Be prepared, though: The song doesn’t start until about two minutes into the video. So get comfortable and enjoy the splashy visual fireworks.

Where did Fame Kills come from? How was the idea for the video conceived?

Fame Kills is from the Dangerous Muse “RED” EP, available now on iTunes. I remember writing the song at a time when I was feeling trapped by popular conventions. I wanted to experiment with a longer form, to tell a story (the full version is 7 minutes). I drank a bottle of red wine in my apartment on the Upper East Side and let my stream of consciousness go without judgement. My previous mantra for writing songs had been to expand an instant feeling into a three-to-four minute expression. But Fame Kills plays with time differently; It’s story spans several years in minutes—a kind of counterpoint to what has come before. The concept for the video—high fashion industrial dystopia—sprang out of a larger film collaboration between myself, director Eric Miclette, and creative director, Love Bailey.

What is the plot for this video?

The lyric tells a story of a girl set out in search of fame who loses her sense of self in the process and a boy who goes after her in attempt to remind her of who she is before all is lost. The video is a non-narrative series of vignettes.

Good news! RuPaul’s Drag Race: Dragopolis 2.0 is on its way! The sequel to the highly addictive, over-the-top smash hit video game will play differently than the original incarnation. The new game will have more puzzle elements, similar to Peggle. In this version, Apocalypstyck returns and steals the gowns, wigs and accessories from RuPaul’s museum. Players have to help RuPaul retrieve what Apocalypstyck stole by completing puzzles. The game will launch with 45 levels and, as players complete each challenge, they will collect pieces of clothing or accessories. “It’s very fashion-forward,” says So Much Drama Studios’ founder Jeff Meado.

Dragopolis is over-the-top and camp, much like RuPaul’s Drag Race. The team of six developers at So Much Drama Studios has tried to capture the spirit of drag by inserting elements of drag culture at every turn. The loading screen, for example, doesn’t use the word “loading” — it says “tucking.” The development team has also been careful in the way they represent the queens.

“If you watch RuPaul’s Drag Race, You probably have your favorite queen from the show, and you can probably describe in detail the outfits they’ve worn or the things they’ve said,” Meador said. “You feel like you’re connected to them. There is a very tight connection between the fans and the queens who appear on the show. So that’s something we had to be very, very careful with.”

The studio is currently recording voice-overs with the queens [Alaska, JuJube, Sharon, Jinkx, Ongina, and Shangela]. The game still has to undergo further testing, but Meador is hopeful that the drag community will enjoy it and that it might reach people who never knew about drag culture before.

“Maybe we’ll introduce a new audience to RuPaul’s Drag Race, and maybe we’ll reach people who are like, ‘Oh my god, I never knew that’s what drag was,’” he said.

And as for the queens themselves?

“They love it,” Meador said. “They think it’s really, really hysterical.”

Vogue asks lifestyle guru Blake Lively 73 rapid-fire questions and the answers are surprisingly entertaining (and more than a little GOOPy). What WILL science think of next? “It started as a class project,” says co-inventor John McCallum, “and our group wanted to eat a lot of delicious cake, so that’s where I came up with the idea of Spray Cake.” The ingredients are the same as cake batter in a box, except no baking soda or powder is used because the can produces its own air bubbles, so it doesn’t need it to rise. According to US magazine:

Cynthia Nixon discovered on the Wednesday, July 23 episode of TLC’s celebrity ancestry show Who Do You Think You Are? that her great-great-great grandmother Martha Curnutt murdered her abusive husband Noah Casto with an axe.

The account was unearthed by Ancestry.com family historian Jennifer Utley, who came across a newspaper clipping from 1843 detailing the events which took place in Missouri. The Sex and the City star, 48, who appeared on the show in search of the unknown lineage on her father’s side, teared up as she read the article aloud.

“[Casto] had been in the habit of treating his wife in a manner too brutal and too shocking to think of,” Nixon read of her ancestors. “On the morning of the day mentioned he told his wife to get up and get breakfast for himself and her two children, and then to commence saying her prayers, for she should die, he swore, before sunset.”

“She got up and made a fire and returned to the room where her unnatural husband slept,” the article continued. “He was lying on his back in a sound sleep. She took the axe with which she had been chopping wood and with one blow sunk it deep into his head, just through the eyes.”

Curnutt was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter and sentenced to five years in prison. Out of 800 inmates, Curnutt was the only female in the Missouri State Penitentiary at the time.

An emotional Nixon, who visited the prison in person, considered Curnutt’s circumstances and her actions. “I certainly wouldn’t call it a happy ending, by any stretch of the imagination,” the star said. “But certainly I think a better ending than if Noah had killed Martha and maybe killed her children, too.”

True, Cynthia. How very wise. And how very brave you’re being, knowing that AT ANY MINUTE your mind could SNAP! and you could DECEND INTO MADNESS just like Martha! There’s no escaping genetics, you know!
