8-Year-Old Drag Queen Lactatia SLAYS Onstage with Bianca Del Rio

0
0

Bianca Del Rio was NOT PREPARED for the fierceness of eight-year-old drag queen Lactatia when she asked her onstage for Montreal date of the Werq the World Tour. I don’t think ANYONE was prepared for what happened next.

“You are fucking adorable, Lactatia,” said Bianca. “Is this your first time in drag?”
“Ummmm, not reeeeelly,” admitted the eight-year-old as the audience howled.
“And who’s your favorite drag queen?” Bianca asked, obviously fishing for a compliment.
After a pause, Lactatia said: “Ginger Minj”… and Bianca LOST IT.

Absolute comedy gold. The sold-out venue was in total awe of this fabulous little queen! Watch the entire bit below (including Bianca’s inspiring advice to Lactatia):

Lactatia’s VERY supportive parents spoke to BestKeptMontreal:

When Nemis (Lactatia’s real name) is out of character he identifies as a boy and in drag as a girl. Drag for Nemis, is about the performance, the character. When he’s Lactatia, becoming her character, he’s a girl with a penis. As far as gender roles go, we’ve gifted both of our children with the ideal that there’s nothing just for girls and nothing just for boys. He grew up wearing his sisters hand me down princess costumes and fancy shoes while playing with monster trucks and riding a skateboard.

I think his biggest milestone in life or a pivotal moment was when he told us that when he grew up if he wanted to, he could be a girl with a penis (He was three and going through a pretty intense Beyonce phase)

Did we know it would lead to him being passionate about becoming the greatest drag queen the world has ever seen? No, but we were one hundred percent certain that Nemis was a natural performer, had the ability to captivate a crowd and was the most self-aware person we knew.

Obviously, we’re not like most moms and dads. Instead of Saturday morning soccer practice, we have Vogue classes. When we go clothes shopping it’s equal parts black skinny jeans and skulls as it is sequins and tulle. We talk ollies, grinding and dropping in- he’s pretty dedicated to his skateboard, just as much as contouring and tuck tape!

And as far as sexuality and drag go, Nemis understands that a majority of Queens are gay. It’s something we’ve talked a lot about at length because he expressed his concern that people wouldn’t think he was a” real “drag queen or take him seriously because he doesn’t feel like he’s gay.

Maybe he will in the future? Who knows. Luckily for him, he has his whole life to figure out that aspect of himself, but for the time being, he’s content to find heels in his size and own his shit!

He is unapologetic and an amazing individual.

We are huge allies in this scene. At the end of the day, I’m hoping that Nemis inspires more parents to be unconditionally accepting of their children and inspires more kids to embrace themselves completely! – Jessica Mélançon and Coriander Golden

Also, Laverne was there…

My tits were there too…

Menendez: Blood Brothers hunk Nico Tortorella appears on tonight’s episode of Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry, and, very quickly, things get spooky.

Henry works his magical mumbo jumbo and connects to the nether realms, asking Nico if there was an “L”-named person? A double “L” person in his life? Loulou perhaps or Lily?

Well, lo and behold Nico’s grandfather was named Lou! And Nico even brought his engraved bracelet that SAID LOU on it to the Hollywood Medium set!

GOOSE BUMPS!

I mean: What are the odds?

“I was only two years old when he passed, so I didn’t know him on a personal level,” a tearful Tortorella says in the clip. “He’s always been such a staple of the family story, so his love and his legacy lives on.”

Watch below and decide for yourself: Bogus? Or terrifying and true? (I can never decide)

Don’t miss Tortorella’s full appearance on “Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry” tonight on E!

And, of course, DON’T YOU DARE miss Menendez: Blood Brothers starring Courtney Love, Nico Tortorella, Myko Olivier, and Benito Martinez. World Premiere June 11 at 8/7c on Lifetime.

The IML and Grabby Awards 2017 Instagram Recap!

Summer always begins with Memorial Day Weekend! While we honor and support our veterans, it’s also a mecca for the LGBTQ community as one of the best holiday weekends around.

From the fabulous Rehoboth Beach which becomes enthralled with rainbow to Palm Springs getting invaded by beauty, we also get to participate in the International Male Leather and Grabby Awards in Chicago, Illinois.

Chicago is my hometown, so trust me when I say, I’m incredibly familiar with just how sexy and risqué these events are. While I was busy barbecuing ribs, the LGBTQ’s leather and porn communities were very busy.

Check out some of the photos taken from the scorching events below!

Will Flashing LED Eyelashes Be the Next Big Drag Beauty Product?

0

Step aside freckle tattoos! Your time is OVER feather eyebrows! Swedish designer Tien Pham has invented what he hopes will be the NEXT BIG THING in drag beauty products: Interactive LED eyelashes that stick to your eyelids with regular eyelash glue.

From Oddity Central:

Called F.Lashes, these eye-catching accessories come in pink, red, blue, light blue, white, yellow and green, and feature different lighting modes, like follow, where the lights follow the movements of your head, dance mode, where they just blink at short intervals when you move your body, and sparkle, with the LEDs lighting up individually to create a sparkle effect.

F.Lashes attach to your eyes with eyelash glue, and are connected to a tiny battery at the back of the user’s head, with barely visible wires. A switch on the battery lets you turn the lashes on/off, and change the lighting effects. Apparently, wearing these LED’s right above your eyes is not uncomfortable at all. Pham says he often forgets he has them on, and can only see the light they emit if he cups his hand above them. You might see some light in dark environments, but not much. Battery life is reportedly around 4 hours.

Pham says he will be launching a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to make them a reality in July. Sign up for a newsletter on Flashes.se, to be notified when the campaign finally launches, so you can pre-order your own LED eyelashes. No word on the price yet, but the designer said “I am going to keep the price as low as possible because I really just want people to have these.”

What do you think? Will future drag queens be wearing light-up eyelashes? Or is this doomed to failure?

On This Day: The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” Is Released

0
0

June 1, 1967Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is released

It was 50 years ago today. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is an exceptional, magnificent work, a masterpiece. I went out and purchased it with money made from mowing lawns on the day it was released. I didn’t come out of my room for 24 hours. Not to sound too much like a geezer, but in 50 years, we have somehow gone from The Summer Of Love to The Summer Of Hate.

In the 1960s, Psychedelic Music was new. It focused on an inner journey. A famous 1960’s slogan was: “Never Trust Anyone Over 30″. Psychedelic Music was meant to be outside of mainstream society, it was meant to be for young people. But, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was a psychedelic work of art that was for, and about, everyone. And, unusual for the era, it was an album that looked backwards fondly while still staying totally groovy.

From the iconic cover art to the opening crowd noises, it is an inclusive enterprise. The original British release even included cardboard cut-outs for kiddies. It addressed the generation gap with She’s Leaving Home, but the clueless parents are still portrayed with compassion and understanding.

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band celebrates the mundane, and with help from psychedelics, how we look at the everyday world. There is the wonder of the trippy Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, but there is also a lovely song about having a spot of tea with a parking meter officer, Lovely Rita. Side Two starts with the Indian raga Within You Without You which segues to the old-fashioned music hall sound of When I’m Sixty-Four, with only a little bit of laughter between the two tracks. Fixing A Hole is a parent’s song about how we can roll up our sleeves and fix things that are broken. Getting Better is optimistic, even in a future looks bleak. Within You Without You is all about looking inwards and understanding who we are. But, this can only be achieved, the album reminds us, With a Little Help From My Friends. The album’s astonishing aural closing extravaganza A Day In The Life, marries the prosaic and the psychedelic in a visionary new way.

The songs on Sgt Pepper’s Lonley Hearts Club Band are mostly slices of life from ordinary people, performed in wildly different musical styles. When The Beatles dropped LSD, they saw that they were part of many communities and the music, culture, and humor that they each brought.

The cover art, co-created with the band and pop artist Peter Blake and Jann Haworth, depicts The Beatles surrounded by the images of famous figures from history and pop culture featuring a funeral wreath, as if saying goodbye to the “Pop Music Beatles” with a birth of a new “Avant-Garde Beatles”. The album’s cover art includes people of different ages and races. It includes Indian musicians and holy men because they inspired The Beatles.

Blake and Haworth took their idea for the cover from an ink drawing by Paul McCartney. It was art-directed by Robert Fraser and photographed by Michael Cooper. The front is a colorful collage with The Beatles in costume as Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, standing with a group of life-sized cardboard cut-outs of famous people. My friends and I liked to smoke a joint and study the cover, identifying the different figures, including Karl Marx and Marilyn Monroe, Aubrey Beardsley and William S. Burroughs, Laurel And Hardy with Dylan Thomas. Dropping acid, you could go into the cover and get lost.

Each of the Beatles has a mustache, after George Harrison had grown one during his visit to India. The Beatles are center, standing behind a drum with the painted words of the album’s title. In front of the drum is a flower arrangement that spell out “Beatles”. The group were dressed in satin day-glo-colored military-style uniforms. Right next to The Beatles are their own wax sculptures from Madame Tussaud’s in their mod suits and Beatle haircuts from the earlier era. The album’s lyrics were printed in full on the back cover, the first time this had been done on an LP.

1967. Photograph by John Pratt

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was a huge commercial and critical success. It spent 27 weeks at Number One on UK albums charts and 15 weeks at Number One in the USA. Critics and fans embraced its innovations in songwriting, music production, and graphic design, and for bridging a cultural divide, providing a musical representation of the older generation and the contemporary counterculture. It won four Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year, the first Rock LP to ever win.

Imagine there’s no Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. It’s easy in the era of Trump.

From RuPaul To Michelle Visage, Billboard Magazine Presents: Love Letters to the LGBTQ Community

We’re not crying, YOU’RE CRYING. Okay, we’re crying too.

Ranging from icon Britney Spears to legendary Martha Walsh, Billboard Magazine asked some of the LGBTQ Communities’ most devoted artists to write letters of love and acceptance as we hit the first day of Gay Pride Month!

Each and every one of these letters are my favorites. Seriously, I sit here typing with tears on my keyboard knowing how all of these people are so incredibly dedicated to the LGBTQ Community and their success, love, and friendship.

Get your tissues ready and read the love letters from Michelle VisageRuPaul, and Megan Mullally, and then head over to the Billboard Magazine website to ready every single one.

Honestly, you should definitely read them all because they’re amazing, just make sure you have at least three boxes of tissues handy.

Check out the three love letters below!

Michelle Visage

Via Billboard Magazine:

“As a mom to biological children and adopted gay children all around the world, nothing gives my heart strings a tug as much as seeing a parent stand by their queer/gay/trans child with beaming pride. As time marches on I am lucky enough to be able to witness an increase in these instances and that let’s me know that our message is being heard.

We must keep fighting until using the word “equality” isn’t necessary because we will all be living as one. You are beautiful. You are loved. You are perfect just the way you are. Never change. I LOVE YOU!”

Megan Mullally

Via Billboard Magazine:

“Dear LGBTCuties,

As we celebrate Pride in this distressing time, we take comfort in the knowledge that nothing and no one can stop our forward motion. The ever-increasing swell of tolerance, acceptance, and awareness that lives and breathes in more and more people from every walk of life, every day. Enlightened humans, spreading that light one to the other to the other. We press on. We don’t balk. We stand tall. Slowly the tide turns and keeps on turning.

I love you all and hold you in my heart.”

And Mother RuPaul.

Via Billboard Magazine:

“We must remember that our greatest strength is in our love of life and colors, beauty and music, dancing and joy. That is our secret weapon. That is something that the opposition does not have. Keep those things near and dear to your heart because in times of war that will sustain you.”

Make sure you head over to Billboard to check out ALL of the Love Letters to the LGBTQ Community!

Side note: I can’t help but feel that Kathy Griffin was asked to write one of these… I wonder if they omitted her?!

Viral Video OTD: This Snake Regurgitating Another Snake Feels Like a Metaphor for Something

It’s your “Damn, Nature Is Scary” video of the day, so watch it at your own peril. I don’t know your trigger levels – and I can’t guarantee you won’t be severely traumatized – but if you do go ahead and watch, be prepared to let out a few screams.

What it is: A viral video of a big snake regurgitating another big snake. Just barfing it up. Then: SURPRISE! The regurgitated snake IS STILL ALIVE (although clearly in a state of shock. Or as much shock as a snake can be in).

Watch below.

Via HuffPo:

Christopher Reynolds filmed the predator and its fully swallowed prey under some leaves in Newton, Texas, National Geographic reported Monday.

Reynolds guessed that his presence might have scared the black snake from fully digesting its meal, the magazine noted. He said it was the slithery victim’s “super, ultra, lottery-lucky day.”

I don’t know, it feels like a metaphor for SOMETHING. The Republican agenda? Spicer regurgitating Trump‘s nonsense? Kellyanne Conway something something something? I can’t quite put my finger on it, but maybe you can figure it out and put your thoughts in the comment section.

In the meantime. Enjoy.

Paris Man Posthumously Marries His Boyfriend Killed in Terrorist Attack

0

In what is most likely an historic first, a gay police officer killed by a gunman in April’s terrorist attacks on the Champs-Élysées, has wed his boyfriend in a posthumous wedding.

Paris policeman Xavier Jugelé was killed by a gunman from The Islamic State. His partner Etienne Cardiles made headlines around the world when he delivered an impassioned eulogy at his April 26 memorial service. (Read it here – prepare to cry).

According to The Guardian, Cardiles married his deceased partner yesterday in a ceremony attended by former French president François Hollande and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo. It’s believed to be the first posthumous same-sex wedding to take place in France and possibly the world.

Marrying your dead partner is not as strange as it first seems.

Via HuffPo:

Posthumous matrimony in France can be traced back to 1803. The practice became particularly popular during World War I, when it allowed women to wed slain soldiers, thus legitimizing any children conceived beforehand and entitling them to a pension.

France’s current legislation allowing people to marry the dead dates back to 1959, when a woman named Irène Jodard requested permission from former French President Charles de Gaulle to wed her fiancé, André Capra, after he had drowned. Hundreds of people have since applied for post-mortem matrimony under the law, which requires applicants to send a formal request to the president, according to The New York Times.

Though not legal in America, there is the longheld practice of giving police officers killed on duty a posthumous promotion to the next level.

As one HuffPo commenter said:

The purpose is to increase the pension to be recieved by the surviving spouse or child(ren). There are those who think it is a wonderful practice and those who oppose it. But, it has been the practice — now a tradition — for the 45 years I have lived here. I hope the Paris action will qualify the spouse for a pension, also, since it is possible, even likely, that dicriminatory laws or attitudes played a part in the couple not being married earlier.

It’s very sad and touching and I hope it brings about a sense of closure to Cardiles and the families and friends of both men.

#Breaking: Leo Varadkar Elected the First Gay Prime Minister of Ireland!

0
0

Leo Varadkar will become Ireland’s first gay prime minister, and also become the country’s youngest leader, and the first from an ethnic minority background. He’s gay and half Indian but insists,

It’s not something that defines me. I’m not a half-Indian politician, or a doctor politician or a gay politician for that matter. It’s just part of who I am, it doesn’t define me, it is part of my character…

He’s ambitious if nothing else. He was 22 when he entered Irish politics, at 27, he was elected to parliament, at 36, he publicly came out as gay, and now, at 38, he appears on course to become Ireland’s next prime minister.

The Dubliner is currently serving as Ireland’s Minister for Social Protection. He announced his campaign to succeed Taoiseach Enda Kenny, prime minister since 2011 shortly after Kenny announced he would be stepping down earlier this month.

Varadkar managed to get the support of many of his fellow Fine Gael parliamentary members, whose say counts for 65% of the final vote; the party members and local politicians make up the other 35%.

Although Varadkar has tried to steer attention away from his sexuality to his politics, for a country that is increasingly trying to focus on a more liberal European identity and shake off the hangover of religious involvement in politics, a coming-out speech like Varadkar’s, whatever its tone, is still ground-breaking.

Homosexuality was only decriminalized in Ireland in 1993. In 2015, Ireland passed the Marriage Equality Bill, allowing same-sex couples to marry.

Senator David Norris, 73, the first Irish politician to publicly come out as gay told CNN that he understands why Varadkar wants to focus on policies and not his personal life. Norris said,

I never made a big deal out of it, because I didn’t want to be treated as a ‘freak’. I didn’t want to be stuck just with issues of sexuality.

What Varadkar does in bed is irrelevant. For people of my generation, there were no role models at all. Now to be able to have a young, able, good-looking gay man as prime minister of the country, it says to young people, ‘you can be anything you want, your sexuality doesn’t matter.‘”

Danny Franzese Tells PopSugar: “How a Moving Fan Letter Finally Convinced Me to Come Out of the Closet”

0
0

Ever-inspiring actor/comedian/wowlebrity Daniel Franzese writes in PopSugar about his struggles with self-acceptance and how a fan letter changed his life:

I was 26 when I landed the role of Damian in Mean Girls. I was out to myself, but too scared to say out loud that I was gay to anyone in the entertainment industry. The entire time I was making that film, I was conflicted about who I was, and how I felt. At this point in my career I had heard the advice to keep my sexuality private. “Private” didn’t sound like such a bad word. It put a cool spin on not telling the truth. Lying, even. Denying.

In 2014, on the 10th anniversary of Mean Girls, a fan wrote me a two-page letter that began with: “I don’t know if you are gay or not, but it doesn’t matter, but you playing Damian changed my life. I went from a chubby, queer, sissy kid who was made fun of in 8th grade, to becoming a college freshman who the senior girls came up to in the lunchroom on the first day and said ‘You’re like Damian, come sit with us.'” He went on to thank me for his popularity. How much of a difference that could have made me for me if I had had someone to identify with on screen. It made me realize how profound that was, so I came out of the closet in a letter to my character Damian.

Shortly after, when I was filming HBO’s Looking, I went to the premiere at the legendary Castro Theater in San Francisco. I spent the day before outside Harvey Milk’s old office, now the home of the Human Rights Campaign, where the cheers, footsteps and tears of my LGBTQ ancestors could be seen and heard in the wind, sky and pavement. I stood as myself, playing an HIV-positive gay character on a major cable network. I felt authentic and at home, and knew that every time one of us folks who don’t fit the mold appears on screen, it’s a victory. It’s a new character, and a new story, and a new life to teach us lessons about people who have stories that matter but so seldom get heard.

Standing right in front of the steps of Harvey Milk’s photo shop, I felt more inspired than ever before. I became an ambassador for the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. I have lobbied Capitol Hill three times with Ms. Taylor’s incredible family. I am also an ambassador for LAMBDA Legal and a friend to many other LGBTQ organizations. I realized I have a voice. I have seen great triumphs like marriage equality, alongside unforgivable attacks on us, like the horrific shooting at Pulse in Orlando. I got engaged to be married to the love of my life, and I started really pursuing stand-up a gift I have had for a long time, but was afraid to use because I kept myself “private.” Now I do stand-up comedy proudly and openly and authentically. I live my life unapologetically happy and free and honestly. The moment I felt proudest to be LGBTQ is right now — and every day

From Hollywood Boulevard, it’s The WOW Report for Radio Andy on SiriusXM! That’s right WOWers, World of Wonder Co-Founder Fenton Bailey, Executive VP of Development Tom Campbell, and WOW Report Editor James St. James have collaborated with reality TV guru and friend of WOW, Andy Cohen, on a weekly Top Ten Countdown of the things from the past week that make us go…WOW!

It’s a pop-culture obsessed hour complete with colorful diatribes, opposing opinions, and a dissection-like discussion that will make your drive home from work more fabulous!

This week, let us be your tour guides to some of our favorite places in the city of Angles, Los Angeles!

We air TODAY at 4PM EST on SiriusXM, and again at 4PM PST (7PM EST). You can also catch it on the SiriusXM app!

Let’s get started…

10) Runyon Canyon

Runyon Canyon is where Angelenos go to work on their fitness, and the people watching is BEYOND! Visit Runyon Canyon on your next trip to Los Angeles at 2001 N. Fuller Ave in Hollywood.

9) Los Angeles Death Tours

Of course it’s fun to buy a star map to see where your favorite celebs live, but a lot of the times your favorite star probably doesn’t even still live in the house you’re gawking at from your car or Hollywood tour van. Why not check out where your favorite celebrities died? That location can never change! Book a Hollywood death tour at dearlydepartedtours.com.

8) The Grove

The Grove is the famous outdoor mall that is the brainchild of Rick J Caruso. It was built to be the Main Street for our dear city that doesn’t have one, and it’s become a quintessential tourist destination featuring restaurants, shopping, and a spectacular water fountain that 18 MILLION people visit annually.

7) Venice, CA

Venice Beach used to be a haven for crime, but it’s had a resurgence in the past few years. Check out the Venice Canals (where Julia Roberts and Matt Groening own homes), Muscle Beach, and hipster hangout Abbot Kinney.

6) Chateau Marmont

If celebrity sightings are your thing, you MUST go at least have a drink at the world-famous Chateau Marmot. You can’t swing a cat without hitting a celebrity in this Los Angeles institution at 8221 Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood on the Sunset Strip.

5) Crossroads of the World

What was built as Los Angeles’ FIRST outdoor mall (before The Grove!), the Crossroads of the World at 6671 Sunset Blvd was World of Wonder’s first West Coast home!

4) Pacific Coast Highway & El Matador State Beach

The Pacific Coast Highway, or the PCH, is one of the most gorgeous drives with some of the most gorgeous beaches you’ve ever seen. One of our favorite beaches on California’s Highway 1 is the magnificent El Matador State Beach in Malibu at 32350 El Matador Beach Rd.

3) There’s a Gay Bar in LA for EVERYONE! Even If You’re Straight!

We’ve all heard of The Abbey. It’s one of the world’s most famous gay bars located in West Hollywood where patrons both gay and straight get to rub elbows with the stars, but WeHo isn’t the only place in LA where the homos hang! Check out leather bars Eagle LA and Faultline in Silver Lake, or head to LA’s hottest new gayborhood – downtown Los Angeles – to Precinct, Redline, and Bar Mattachine.

2) The Magic Castle

Do you believe in magic? You will once you visit the Magic Castle at 7001 Franklin Ave. It’s “an exclusive, private club. Reservations are required, as are coat and tie. Inside, miracles are rampant.” Click here to find out how to “make your appearance.”

1) HOLLYWOOD!

How could we curate a list of our favorite places in Los Angeles and not mention HOLLYWOOD?! This very show is recorded in the basement studio of WOW Headquarters – literally underneath the world-famous Walk of Fame on Hollywood Blvd! More Myko! More Nico! More ‘Menendez: Blood Brothers’ Clips To Watch!

Have you chosen what you’re gonna snack on during the Menendez: Blood Brothers premiere on June 11th?

I know we all wish we could take a bite out of Nico Tortorella or Myko Olivier,or BOTH, but we can’t. You know what you can do in the meantime? Watch their latest interview with HLN.

The leads of Menendez: Blood Brothers sat with Michaela Pereira of HLN and managed to get us even more pumped up for the June 11 premiere.

The co-stars discussed the fact that this story is still obsessed about in pop culture today. This should come as no surprise to anyone because, you know, it was one of the first televised court cases, so regardless of how you feel about it, it’s essentially a mainstay in the true crime TV world.

Another fun fact they revealed? The film is, essentially, told as if the Menendez Brothers were stating facts during their entire trail. This means we’ll be able to dive into their perspectives on why they felt justified in killing, you know, their parents.

I’m beginning to think a cocktail may have to go with that snack.

Check out the full clip below!

Get ready for Menendez: Blood Brothers on June 11th at 9/8c only on Lifetime.
