When he’s not teaching at Parson’s, video game developer Robert Yang has created various games across his career that flip previous conventions of gaming on their head.
Yang’s virtual reality video games are far from the expected norm being chock full of explicit content and titillating scenarios.
From his consensual-BDSM spanking game “Hurt Me Plenty” to “Cobra Club“, a game all about taking the best crude selfie, Yang serves VR with a big side of homosexual eroticism.

Yang has taken his views for the future of VR, “VR empathy machines” and homoerotic gaming to his popular blog exclaiming:
I am against the promise of any claim to a “VR empathy machines”, and I am against it forever.
VR empathy machines are just VR Appropriation machines. They are fundamentally about mining the experiences of suffering people to enrich the self-image of VR users… or, even worse, they’re about mining the experiences of suffering people to enrich the cultural appeal of VR brands?
Yang has also taken to his blog explain the importance of homosexuality across the VR frontier explaining that he’d like to see the VR platform and the dangers of VR being taken control of by capitalist agendas :
When [the right-wing failson] buy video games, they finally fit into capitalism in some small way, and so they stake their self-worth on it. Instead of philosopher-kings, they are consumer-kings, who think they’re so good at consuming video games that they can impose their radical conservative racist misogynist politics on the rest of gamer culture…
The VR game developer believes that VR, being a very new form of art and gameplay platform signifies its public reception to be up for grabs.
To save a newly emerging VR culture from this poisoned gamer culture, I believe that we must act now, to fortify and insulate pockets of VR culture from the inferno. Ideally, we all pursue many different strategies in tandem, and here’s a tactic that I’m working on, it’s two short sweet words: Gay. VR.
The goal of Gay VR is to make VR completely universally entirely gay. Let’s flood VR with gay stories, gay ideas, gay images, gay bodies, gay feelings, gay systems, and gay interactions. Some of that will be making gay games and gay VR art, but some of this work will also involve talking about VR and developing a theory of gay VR.
When we combine two improbable utopian projects like mass collective gayness and VR, it’s like a miraculous double-impossible utopia. And once we dream of banishing the heteronormative consumer-king usurpers and conquering VR, why stop there? Imagine even grander visions of gay AI, gay computers, gay continents, gay mountains, gay caves, gay rocks, gay sand, gay physics…
and if you didn’t think Yang was serious about his mission:
So please come join me in making VR so fucking gay that the worst of toxic gamer culture will stay far away from it. Wow, doesn’t that sound delicious? To me, that would be like… ecstasy.

A lot of people think that I’m addicted to plastic surgery. But the truth is, if I’m addicted to anything, it’s beauty. I suppose plastic surgery is part of that. My first psychiatrist said I was “body conscious.” The reality is, the more work I put into my look, the more right I felt. The more loved I felt. Hormones, makeup, growing my nails, anything that increased my femininity. Even buying an eyelash curler gave me a sense of hope, happiness, and acceptance.
One day I was staring at myself in the mirror at work and noticed extra skin around my eyelids. I immediately made an appointment to see my surgeon.
Dr. Reinhorn and I talked about an eye lift. It was tricky; some girls had it done and looked uneven, and the procedure also leaves a scar on your forehead, which I did not want.
So I asked him if he could just cut along the line where I draw in my eyebrows; that way I would be able to trace the scars when I did my makeup. Two birds, one surgery. He thought it was a great idea and made a plan to take a triangle of skin out along with the muscle underneath, and lift my lids that way. In theory it would give me permanent Botox. The day of the surgery I drew my eyebrow line in blue Sharpie and told the doctor, “There’s your scar.”
It was an intense procedure and I was on a lot of pain pills, but the worst part was that I wasn’t allowed to put makeup on my face for a full week after. Armen took care of me but I was driving him nuts; I was so high on pills I kept repeating myself, talking about the same nothing over and over.
After three days I’d had enough and needed to get out. Antony & the Johnsons were playing at Joe’s Pub, and I really wanted to go, plus I wanted to see how lashes were going to look on my new lids.
Armen begged me, “Please don’t fuck with the scars, it’s too soon.” But I didn’t care. I put on a huge Farrah Fawcett–style wig that covered most of my forehead. Armen helped me do my makeup since I was too high to draw a straight line, and he also helped me into a black patent leather gown.
I didn’t want to mess with the brow scars, so I left them exposed and taped pieces of black lace to my temples. It looked like my scars were part of the lace, rather than red gashes with little black stitched Xs.
Most people simply eyed my look, but when we saw Antony backstage, she got on her hands and knees to worship me. She said, “You’re an even more extreme performance artist than Marina Abramović.” It wasn’t on purpose; I just really needed to get out.
A cute, dark Italian guy at the show started hitting on me. He seemed to know only three things to say in English: “Beautiful girl, beautiful hair, beautiful body.” Isn’t it always the case that you meet the cutest guys when you can’t have sex? He was hitting on me like crazy, petting my hair and grabbing my ass, but I hadn’t even pinned my wig on the right way, so I told him it wasn’t going to happen. He kept begging me to bring him home, so I finally gave in and told him I was just getting over being sick so he had to be gentle with me.
First thing I did when we got to my place was turn the lights off and kick the wig head under the bed. We started fucking and he was very excited, loving it. Everything was going great until he pulled my hair, yanking the wig right off, so my scars were completely visible. He turned white. “OH MY GOD, WHAT’S THAT? WHAT’S THAT?!” He was screaming. I told him to calm down, that I’d just had surgery, but he kept freaking out, his dick went down, and he ran out.
It was funny seeing a guy go from being in heaven to pure hell so quickly. I really should have pinned that wig.

Dolce & Gabbana have teamed up with the Italian appliance designers Smeg once again – they previously worked together on a line of “high-fashion refrigerators” – on a new line of kitchen appliances including a toaster, blender, mixer, juicers, a tea kettle, and espresso machine.
They aren’t really my taste, but even if they were, I’d have a hard time spending my money on Dolce & Gabbana who have said in recent years that they don’t agree with gay marriage, gay couples raising children, and named one of their sandals the “Slave sandal.” Barf.

So this just happened: A shredded jean skirt decorated with alt-right mascot Pepe the Frog has been pulled from the racks and is no longer available for purchase on Zara’s online store.
Zara, of course, has a history of lunkheaded fashion choices, including a gazillion ripoffs, a concentration camp-inspired children’s shirt, and a bizarre celebration of size 0 “curves,” All petty despicable. But co-opting a White Nationalist symbol for their ‘Festival Edition’ section? That’s just sick.

In case you didn’t know, Pepe the frog was a meme (a glorious meme!) of an emotional cartoon frog that met its tragic death when it was co-opted by the white nationalist alt-right movement during Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. Pepe has since been declared a hate symbol by the Anti-Defamation League, much to the dismay of Brooklynites with penchants for ironic tattoos.
Since fashion and music writer Meagan Fredette first noticed the skirt, and Dazed picked up her tweet, Zara has pulled the Pepe skirt and has yet to comment.

You can go ahead and mark the weekend of May 19 off in your calendars because Netflix’s new true crime series The Keepers premieres, but will it be as big as Making a Murderer?
The Keepers is about the 1969 murder of Sister Cathy Cesnik in Baltimore. Sister Cathy went missing in November of 1969, and her body was found in early 1970, but who would want her dead?

In recent years, alumnae of Cesnik’s employer, Archbishop Keough High School, have gathered to comb over the facts of Cesnik’s case and piece together potential clues. They believe that the nun might’ve been killed because she was threatening to unearth information about a prostitution ring led by the school’s chaplain — beliefs supported by two women’s claims that the chaplain had raped them.
A new Netflix series will look into the mystery and possible coverup surrounding Cesnik’s murder. The trailer, released Wednesday, hints at police, city and religious official corruption, all ingredients for a captivating true crime tale. Based on the success of Netflix’s previous true crime offerings — both the 10-part series “Making a Murderer” and the documentary “Amanda Knox,” for example — this one seems like it will be just as electrifying.

April 1982- 35-years ago the number one song in the country was I Love Rock N’ Roll by Joan Jett And The Blackhearts.
The song was originally recorded and released by the very British band, The Arrows, in 1975, written by The Arrow’s Alan Merrill, who claimed it was written: “as a knee-jerk response to the Rolling Stones’ It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll (But I Like It).
In 1976, Joan Jett saw The Arrows perform I Love Rock ‘N Roll on their weekly television series, broadcast in the UK, when she was on a European tour with her first band The Runaways. She first recorded the song in 1979 with two of the Sex Pistols: Steve Jones and Paul Cook. That first version was released on vinyl in 1979 as a B-side to You Don’t Own Me.
In 1981, Jett recorded the song again, this time with her band, The Blackhearts. This was the version that became the Number-One single for seven weeks in the USA in spring of 1982, and the one we recognize the most. Billboard ranked it at the Number-Three Song for 1982. The single was certified platinum with more than two million records sold. It’s on the list 100 Greatest Guitar Songs Of All Time by Rolling Stone Magazine and was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2016.
Jett was one of the first women to start her own label, Blackheart Records in the 1970s
There were always those pesky rumors that she was a lesbian. The subject of Jett’s sexuality has shadowed her for most of her career. She continues to play it coy:
“Anyone who wants to know who I am can just read my lyrics. I’ve always written about who I am. Look, in The Runaways I learned at a very young age, because I could see the looks in the writers’ eyes when they would ask me questions about the band and our offstage antics, and I could see from the way they asked the questions, that if I answered this stuff, that was all they were ever going to write about.”
“But that’s not what I want people to focus on. I want people to focus on the music. And if they want to know who I am, I write about who I am in the lyrics, so don’t be lazy-read the lyrics and figure it out for yourself. I sing to everyone, that’s the bottom line. You don’t want to say, ‘All right, you guys, you can’t be involved in this’. You want everybody to be involved. You want everybody to want you.”
Jett devotes much of her time to social causes including the Animal Rights organization, The Farm Sanctuary. Like me, she is a vegetarian, but unlike me, she is a spokesperson for PETA. In 2013, Jett was set to appear on the South Dakota Tourism float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. But some ranchers from the state complained about the choice and she got the boot.
In 2015, Jett was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Last summer she and The Blackhearts were out on the road playing with Cheap Trick and Heart playing to sellout crowds. This summer she is out on tour again, this time backed-up by The Blackhearts.
A singer by the name of Britney Spears had a modest hit with I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll from her album Britney (2002), cracking the Top 20, but, it is considered to be a highlight of her Las Vegas show, Britney: Piece of Me.

Although there still isn’t a release date for her new album Lust for Life, Lana Del Rey has released the second single. It’s the title track – “Lust for Life” – and it features Selena Gomez’s boyfriend, The Weekd.
This follows the release of the first single from Lust for Life “Love” back in February. The album is expected to be released this spring.

TMZ stopped Lance Bass at the airport to talk about the news of gay concentration camps in Chechnya.
“Why are people ignoring it?” asks the camera guy.
“Well, it’s now starting to get some attention, thanks to some of our government officials – even Nikki Haley, thank you! – and Joe Biden. Everyone is really starting to pay attention to it. It needs to stop. It’s crazy what people will do to people.”
He was asked if he has a message for the gay men in Chechnya who are dealing with this right now.
“Well, I don’t think they’re watching this,” he said, “They’re scared for their lives. But if I could send a message I would say ‘Stay strong, we love you, this world loves you, and things will change'”

Bill Nye the Science Guy appeared on the fourth hour of the Today show to discuss Earth Day and Kathie Lee Gifford was NOT HAVING IT. Every time he opens his mouth, she sighs, she rolls her eyes, she harrumphs and groans, slumps her shoulders down, laughs, and mocks him. Hoda, drunkenly outside working the crowd, isn’t much better. I don’t know whether this is a call for an intervention, or whether they both need to be replaced with hosts who actually LIKE their jobs and RESPECT their guests. Either way, this kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. And poor Bill Nye doesn’t deserve to be treated like this.
