Hot off the set of RuPaul’s Drag Race, the baddest queen from Azusa, Adore Delano (aka Danny Noriega of American Idol season 7) is dropping her first single DTF today (Tuesday, May 20th.) In conjunction with the release, World of Wonder has teamed up with the fiercely talented queen to launch the new web series on WOWPresents, Let The Music Play.
The eleven-week series features Adore sharing entertaining, intimate, behind-the-scene details of each track off her new album Till Death Do Us Party (dropping Monday, June 2.) Each webisode includes personal photos, music video clips, samples of each track, and links to purchase on iTunes.

Well this could be interesting. The beyond-gorgeous supermodel is the first person cast in the live-action adaptation of the Disney classic/Hans Christian Anderson tale. She’ll be playing Sister #4, which obviously isn’t a pivotal role, but certainly bodes well for the rest of the casting process. Who will be Ariel? Who will be the singing crustacean Sebastian? And most importantly, WHO WILL PLAY URSALA? It’s all too exciting.
Small dust-up concerning the reporting of this story in the Daily Mail. Pejic was born male but prefers female pronouns, of course, and considers herself as living “between genders.” From indiewire:
Despite Pejic’s stated preference for female pronouns, the news of her casting in Coppola’s film was first reported by The Daily Mail (in a story we won’t link to here) with the charming headline “The Little Merman!”. The entire story then refers to Pejic as “he”, despite it taking no more than a click on her Wikipedia page to see that this is not how Pejic would have it. Hardly surprising for a publication with such a history, but depressing all the same.
Such a no-brainer. If she wants to be called she, call her she, for Christ’s sake.

Haute couture! On Dolls! Oh, what I wouldn’t have given to have these growing up!
Last month, Dior unveiled its Le Petit Théâtre Dior in Chendgu, China (open until the 20th of June). It’s the first stop of a travelling exhibition, inspired by Théâtre de la Mode (the iconic 1945–1946 touring exhibit of tiny fashion mannequins crafted by top fashion designers to show Parisian fashions to post-World War II America). Now, Dior has created 12 fashion dolls to retrace the history of the House and present miniature versions their most famous dresses. Minutely sewn to exact specification, they resemble the originals down to the tiniest detail. Watch the videos below to witness the incredible craftsmanship that goes into every flower, every bead, and every gold-embroidered thingamajig. Absolutely breathtaking.

In the ateliers, time seems to have stood still: the embroidery is done by hand, as in the 18th century, and the silk flowers are born between the fingers of an artisan with quasi-botanic exactitude. On the original Miss Dior dress designed in 1949 or on its miniature version, produced specially for the exhibition, bouquets of rose, jasmine and lilac burst into bloom. In order to arrive at such a result, the petite main perpetuates a legacy that has remained intact; the fabric petals are cut out by hand with a punch tool and the embossing is done with a period tool that ensures both perfection and astonishing realism. Fixed around a brass stalk, the petals become a flower as they’re worked by expert hands with a fairy-light touch. The details might be miniature but the savoir-faire remains grandiose, as evidenced by the spectacular dress Mexique from the fall-winter 1951-1952 collection in brown tulle embroidered with gold sequins and beads highlighted by a dark brown velvet ribbon on the bust.

They are kinkier than the average bear! A pair of male brown bears at a Croatian zoo have been engaging in oral sex. A lot of it. Over the course of 116 hours of recent observation, the animals engaged in fellatio 28 times. That’s about one act of fellatio for every four hours, with each act ranging in duration from 1 minute to 4 minutes. Niiiiiiice.
So what’s the problem? Well, it’s just odd, that’s all. Bears don’t usually service each other in that manner, unless they’re kept in substandard conditions with inadequate behavioral stimulation. But the Croatian bears seem to have been “kept in proper conditions.”
So why would these animals be engaging in this kind of sexual behavior? A likely explanation is that the bears were orphaned at an early age.
We suggest that the behavior may have started as a consequence of prematurely curtailed maternal suckling when these bears were orphaned as cubs. Brown bear cubs suckle their mother for milk, bonding, and comfort … Orphaned bear cubs may suck their own or their sibling’s body parts, such as paws or ears, as a substitute for their mother’s nipples. In the case reported here, the provider may have found a substitute for teat‐sucking that also resulted in a let‐down of substitute “milk.”

So it appears the rumours are true: Jason Momoa, AKA everybody’s favourite Dothraki behemoth Khal Drogo, is to play Aquaman in the forthcoming superhero sequel-cum-origins story Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. And you’d have to say that Zack Snyder and his team have pulled off a bit of a coup by recruiting the Game of Thrones star.
The Dweller in the Depths is a superhero who requires a serious image makeover if he is ever to take centre stage in Warner Bros’ planned rollout of movies based on DC Comics’ venerable back catalogue. There is, quite simply something deeply silly about water-breathing heroes in the first place: just ask Waterworld’s Kevin Costner. But Aquaman’s classic incarnation really is one of the hokiest in the entire DC canon: he is usually presented as the blue-eyed, blond-haired sometime king of Atlantis, a man with the ability to communicate with sea-life and speak any language on Earth, thanks to his telepathic abilities. As if that last part makes any sort of sense.
All of the above is no more ridiculous, of course, than the backstory surrounding Marvel‘s hugely popular Thor. And it is certainly no more dumb than some of the other golden-age heroes in DC’s past that Warner apparently plans to revive: Wonder Woman, Shazam and Green Lantern spring to mind.
But Aquaman has being subjected to indignities that even the above never faced (despite Green Lantern’s rubbish 2011 live-action film and the other Princess Diana’s predilection for invisible planes). A few years back he was the subject of a very silly fictional movie in the hit HBO comedy series Entourage, one which brilliantly satirised the general poor quality of pre-Marvel Studios superhero movies and the determination of big-name Hollywood actors to take part in them nonetheless, in exchange for boatloads of cold, hard cash.
In the nine years since the Entourage storyline, much has changed, and the idea of an Aquaman movie doesn’t seem nearly as foolish, particularly if the character can be reinvented. And here’s where Momoa comes in: while certain unfortunate audiences may remember him for early appearances in the likes of Baywatch Hawaii, most have only known the Honolulu-born actor from his single season or so of appearances as Khal Drogo in the greatest swords-and-sorcery TV show of all time. Momoa’s mixed-race ethnicity and rugged countenance are about as far as it’s possible to get from the clean cut Aryan look of the classic Aquaman, making him the ideal candidate to reintroduce the water-dwelling superhero to audiences through a brand-new prism. To put it simply, Momoa could make us take Aquaman seriously.
Why is that so important? Well, Man of Steel succeeded for the most part because it vied to present a world as close as possible to reality, one in which Superman suddenly arrived to shock the planet with his very existence. While Marvel has generally used comic quips to plaster over the preposterous nature of some of its more far-out heroes, Warner seems to be planning a cinematic universe based around leaner, grittier versions of the classic DC staples. So Aquaman in Dawn of Justice needs to be believable as a figure who might just exist in some (admittedly pretty batty) version of our own universe.
Momoa has also featured as Conan the Barbarian in a weak remake of the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger fantasy and co-starred as a villain in the largely forgettable Walter Hill/Sly Stallone crime thriller Bullet to the Head since playing Khal Drogo. But most audiences will forgive him for those, so ineluctably classy was his work in Game of Thrones portraying a character who barely breathes a word of English throughout his run. And he appears to have been more careful about taking on starring roles since Conan failed to find traction, a move which has extended the half-life of his Game of Thrones cache.
Frankly, it’s hard to imagine an actor with a better chance of rescuing Aquaman from superhero purgatory. Unless of course, a certain Vinnie Chase happens to be running low on cash.
