Chelsea Manning, currently serving a 35-year sentence for leaking classified military documents to WikiLeaks, landed in the prison hospital yesterday after attempting suicide.

TMZ remains unclear as to the specifics, but sources claim she tried to hang herself.

Fort Leavenworth, Kansas prison officials say that although she has been released from the hospital she is being “monitored.”

Manning transitioned from male to female behind bars.

For her latest couture collection, the perennially gobsmacking Iris Van Herpen said she “visualized sound waves as evolving geometric patterns.” Huh? Well, the effect was at once tactile and bizarre, with dresses that looked more like underwater sea anemones and intergalactic space mollusks than anything we’ve ever seen on a runway before. There were gowns of silicone-coated handblown glass bubbles—thousands of them—and silicone-coated Swarovski water drop crystals that beggared the imagination. Oh, what I wouldn’t give to wear one of these outfits ONCE before I died.

More interesting for its real-life potential was the experiment with Japanese organza woven from polymer threads five times thinner than human hair. Van Herpen used the Shibori technique to create a honeycomb-like, quilted effect on a short dress in the stuff that was practically weightless. Most compelling of all were the plisse, line-printed organza dresses. When one of the models picked up the hem of her generous skirt, you realized that the lines were straight. It was the pleating that created their snaking curves. Which brings us back to patterns and cymatics. You don’t have to know a lick about the subject to be seduced by those delicate, graceful gowns.

Outfest 2016 starts tomorrow night at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Los Angeles. We spoke with Sam Icklow, the platinum assistant coordinator, who is working closely with Bradford Nordeen, Outfest’s curator, this year and he gave us the scoop on all things film and fabulousness!

WOW: I went to OutFest’s opening last year and saw Tig Notaro and Drew Droege. Who can we expect to see this year?
Sam: The awesome thing about this festival is how many filmmakers and artists are going to be participating at the festival. Outfest favourites like Drew will be present as well as countless more!

WOW: With all the visibility and representation we are seeing on television and film, what makes Outfest so special to you personally?
Sam: Outfest is really interesting as a LGBT festival in the way that it showcases more mainstream LGBT cinema alongside work of more underground queer filmmakers, which makes for a really rich audience experience. I mean, we’re showing the new GHOSTBUSTERS this year alongside edgier fare like you can find in our Platinum section.

WOW: What film/films are you most excited to see?
Sam: Well, apart from GHOSTBUSTERS I’m really excited for some of our international features like André Antônio’s sexy, lavish and decidedly queer debut THE CULT, as well as Yony Leyser’s Berlin feature DESIRE WILL SET YOU FREE. But we also have an array of shorts, US features and docs that are really exciting — from Bruce LaBruce to James Franco to Molly Shannon to K8 Hardy there’s definitely something for everyone.

WOW: Have you screened any films and predict any early crowd favorites?
Sam: Aside from our centerpieces, there are many hidden gems, like some that I mentioned. Get into the guide online and start exploring!

Celine Dion looked positively SMASHING as she greeted fans and signed autographs on the way to her concert in Paris.

It follows a week of appearances at Paris fashion shows  – in fabulous haute couture from Dior, Balenciaga, and Fendi – that she says she attended because her late husband Rene Angelil would’ve wanted her to.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Dion explained, “It could have been way easy for me to say, ‘You know what, I’m not in the mood of dressing up and having the purse and seeing the fans and having a good time and singing, giving a part of your soul.’ But knowing that [Rene] loved the industry so much…he wanted me to really be the artist I always wanted to be.”

Good for her.

She added that her fans are behind her performing — she’s currently on tour in Paris — and making public appearances so soon after Rene’s death in January.

“They’ve been such supporters in my good days and my bad days. They are so considerate for my happiness and my sadness, my good and bad moments, and they are [always] supporting me…not only my music, but who I am,” she said.

As for her high-fashion makeover, courtesy of stylist Law Roach, Celine told ET, “Do we know any girls in the world who don’t really like to be jeweled or dressed up? I never met one.”

Dion will kick off 17 shows in her home province of Quebec, Canada, including a string of shows in Montreal later in the year, and then in September she’ll resume her residency in Las Vegas.

We sat down with the queen, Michelle Visage, about her jet-setting journey across the country (and world, really), on this past season of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Bots Tour 2016. She concluded her globe-trotting adventures (in kitten heels, no less), in Perth, Australia where we got her to open up about traveling with a gaggle of season favorites!

WOW: Hi Michelle! Thank you so much for taking time off the bus to do this with us.
Michelle: Of course!! World of Wonder is my family, who says no to family?!

WOW: Manila posted a super cute selfie of the two of you. So was Perth your final stop on the tour?
Michelle: Yes and what a great place to end it! Perth has a fabulous, thriving drag scene and it is special to me because Ru has special history there. They were an awesome crowd to end the tour with.

WOW: How many tours have you been a part of?
Michelle: This is my third BOTS tour and it is by far the most successful.

WOW: Adore, Alaska, Ben, Courtney Act, Detox, Ginger, Ivy, Jinkx, Katya, Manila, Miss Fame, Pandora, Pearl, Phi Phi, Sharon, and Violet! I mean, c’mon! That’s an AMAZING line-up. It sounds like fans are truly in for a treat. What can fans expect from a bots tour and particularly this years?
Michelle: Well, this tour is now over so they can’t expect anything, but moving forward the show is our Broadway production. It is a realized concept, not a bar drag show (which we LOVE,it’s just not that). On Drag Race people only get to see a teeny tiny bit of the talent these kids have, but on the live tour they get to see what they are really made of and that is a treat to watch!

WOW: What have the fans been like in all the city’s you’ve been too? 

 Michelle: To me, other than performing, the biggest treat is meeting the fans of the show. They are amazing, dedicated, passionate and just a touch insane which makes it all perfect.

WOW:  I bet they are all excited after the announcement of All Stars 2? What was their reaction?

Michelle: After AS2 was announced, every time i mentioned it the crowd would roar. They are in for a real treat because it is going to be UH MAY ZINK.

WOW: You all made a powerful statement with that incredible photo of you and all the girls outside the gendered bathrooms in North Carolina. I bet that was an amazing way to show your LGBTQ – specifically your T – fans your love amidst all the controversy. What was the experience like being there in Charlotte and Durham?
Michelle: it’s just insane what is going on down there. The thing is; trans people have been using the bathroom of their gender for YEARS with no one “fearing for their lives” or “worrying they’ll be raped”. NO ONE had an issue with it until the government got involved and pointed fingers at an already marginalized section of society by stripping them of MORE rights as human beings. It is just disgusting. We couldn’t do much, but we wanted everyone to know that at OUR shows? ALL are welcome and able to be who they are at all times. #loveislove

WOW: I saw your performance with the girls after Orlando and it brought me to tears. What was that experience like being on the road when the horror of the story came out and with Eddie Sotomayor? Even though you guys were away, it seemed like you all had the love and support of your sisterhood and the amazing fans that Drag Race brings together.
Michelle: I am not sure I can put the emotions into words. There was intense sadness and a lot of fear. We didn’t want to continue the tour. We could not stop crying all day and night and beyond. I lost my dear friend Eddie but Ginger and Detox, who are from Orlando, lost quite a few friends. We were paralleled with too many tragedies on this tour: the Brussels bombing, Christina Grimmie and of course, Pulse. We had just played Tampa and Eddie came to hang out with me and he was the one who walked me back to the hotel on the ONE NIGHT on the entire 4.5 month tour that i went out after the show (i never go out). I think that happened for a reason. I had a beautiful talk and walk with him as he saw me safely back to my room. Always a gentlemen.

We decided that our community, now more than ever, needed our strength. We put our bravest faces on and moved forward with the tour. We did the rest of the tour with our slain brothers and sisters in our hearts and I wore a crystal tear every night as my little tribute to all of them. It is something that will stay with us forever.

WOW: That’s incredible. What’s next for you and what can we all look forward to in the world of Michelle?

Michelle: World domination.

More than 13,000 people have offered financial support to the family of Alton Sterling through a GoFundMe page started by actress Issa Rae and the Alton family lawyer.

It reads, “if you feel helpless, but want to play a small part in easing the burden of #AltonSterling’s family, consider donating to this scholarship fund for his 15-year-old son (and his other kids).”

Sterling, a father of five, was shot multiple times in the chest and back while being held on the ground by police outside a Louisiana convenience store.

The Department of Justice has launched a civil rights investigation into Sterling’s death.

A graphic video showing Sterling’s interaction with the officers began circulating on social media Tuesday evening. Protests in Baton Rogue that began Tuesday night have continued throughout the day Wednesday.

If you’ve been following this season of Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, you know she’s been facing some legal troubles lately.

After pleading guilty in March to the felony theft of nearly $35,000 in Section 8 housing vouchers, she has since ran afoul of the conditions of her $25,000 bond. US District Judge Lance Africk ruled Wednesday that she must live in a halfway house and submit to substance abuse testing after repeatedly testing positive for marijuana in April and May.

We reached out to Freedia for a comment. She says:

“I want to send love and thanks to all the people who have offered me their prayers and support during this difficult time! I love you all.”

Outfest 2016 is in full force, hunties! For the next eleven days, a diverse range of LGBTQ stories will be center stage and highlighted amongst the community and audiences alike. Last night at the Orpheum, crowds came out to support Clea DuVall’s directoral debut, “The Intervention.”

The evening opened with a powerful speech by Wilson Cruz: “We’re here tonight to celebrate storytelling and that’s why Outfest exists — to support the LGBT experience.”

Outfest exec director Christopher Racster added an amazing tribute to love: “But for 34 years, Outfest has stood for a safe place for the LGBT community to come together,” he added. “Love wlll always be stronger than hate. Thanks for not letting hate win.”’

Things went award-worthy when John Cooper was awarded the Outfest Achievement Award adding, “The world is ready for more of us and together we can make that happen.”
