TMZ reported today that Li-Lo is engaged to her Russian business heir boyfriend, Egor Tarabasov, saying that Tarabasov, 22, proposed to the Mean Girls star, 29, this past weekend. However, a rep for Lohan told Page Six that story is false. So what are we to believe?

From US Weekly:

The couple first met at a party in London through mutual friends and started dating several months ago. The Disney actress, beloved for her ’90s and early 2000s movies, moved abroad a few years ago in order to get her life back on track.

Prior to Tarabasov, Lohan was last publicly linked to former NFL quarterback and reality TV star Matt Nordgren back in 2013. Her new fiancé’s father is a multimillionaire real estate mogul.

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly last month, Lindsay’s mom, Dina Lohan, had only good things to say about Tarabasov. “He is cute. He’s a sweetheart. No, he’s just a really good person,” she said, bringing up the seven-year age gap between the couple. “The tabloids are like, ‘Oh, he’s so much younger.’ But he’s very mature, very worldly. They love each other.”

Jezebel hasa roundup of everything we know about Tarabasov so far, and it’s NOT MUCH.

I love him 😊

Justin Bieber posted a couple Instagram videos yesterday afternoon that, even though they’re short clips, showcase his impressive piano skills. He chose to cover Drake‘s “Hotline Bling” and Rihanna and Drake’s collab “Work” in what looks like some sort of hotel environment.

#TheFutureIsNow: Flyboard Air Hoverboard Goes 93 MPH and Flies 10,000 Feet in the Air

Flyboard-Air-GIF-Proper-04112016

This is some nutty Green Goblin shit right here! The new Flyboard Air can  apparently go up to 93 mph and fly 10,000 feet in the air, and no, you did not read those numbers wrong.

The Flyboard Air comes from the insanely inventive team at Zapata Racing, which is led by the—apparently—insanely brave Franky Zapata. If the Zapata company name doesn’t ring a bell, its original Flyboard probably will. The part-watercraft, part-aircraft (nicknamed “dolphin jetpack”) blew our collective minds when it appeared back in 2011 and showed riders springing out of the water and then flying and looping tens of meters into the air like marine mammals who forgot gravity is a thing.

But this Flyboard Air. This legitimately takes hoverboards to a whole new level.

Unlike the original Flyboard, the Flyboard Air doesn’t require a water source to propel itself, although it’s not 100% clear how it works, as no mechanical specifics have been provided by Zapata. Sources including Gizmodo and Gizmag speculate that it’s powered by a turbine engine fed by a backpack full of fuel. According to the heat (and crazy crazy stats) this beast is throwing off in the above video, that would make sense. Zapata also says that the board is capable of full autonomy for up to 10 minutes.

In the video, Zapata flies for about 3.55 minutes and reaches a top speed of 55 kph (about 34 mph), although the craft can supposedly go almost triple that. Zapata Racing also claims the Flyboard Air has a top altitude of 10,000 feet, which is just Joker-level insanity. For reference, lots of recreational skydivers jump from around 13,000 feet. Theoretically, you could ride this thing to its max altitude, and then skydive back to Earth no problem.

There is no word on when the Flyboard Air will be available for purchase, or even public use, although Zapata says it certainly won’t be on the market in 2016. For now, we’ll have to make do with our much less gravity- and death-defying Hendos.

Is it real? Is it a hoax? The internet isn’t convinced either way. But WOW. sign me up of it’s for real? (Although what happens if you tip over? – kind of scary, huh?)

Watch the video below. (via The Nerdist)

Watch: Sherry Vine & Jiz “I Know What You Caught Last Summer” Parody

sherry vine jiz

The HUH-larious NYC drag superstar Sherry Vine and comedian Jiz (aka Sienna D’Enema) are finally ending their feuding with a no-hoes-barred battle in new parody I Know What you Caught Last Summer. Apparently, the rivalry started back in 2012 when Jiz did a spoof video of Scissor Sisters’ Let’s Have a Kiki, called Let’s Have A Pee Pee. Five days later, Sherry Vine also put out her own version, with the same exact title. Vine claims that Jiz stole the idea from her (Although, if ya check the timeline, it would appear that Jiz was first…just sayin’). “I would like to go on record that I was the first one to do a parody of Let’s Have A Kiki”, says Vine. “Jiz is crass and vulgar!” She’s decided it’s time to squash the beef for good. See what happens next in the clip below!

#TakeALookatMeNow: Phil Collins Ages Himself on the Reissue of 6 Classic Albums

Never been a YUUGE Phil Collins fan, but he HAS turned out quite a few hits, although none very recently. He has now reissued some of his most popular albums as part of the collection called, Take a Look at Me Now…. But the guy on the new album covers has aged quite a bit.

The title is apparently meant to be taken literally, and so in addition to some musical extras, Collins also reshot each one of the six albums’ covers… just the opposite of what most aging rockers look to do. British photographer Trevor Key took most of the originals, and Peter Ashworth snapped the original for No Jacket Required. Photographer Patrick Balls reimagined all of the new covers.

FYI, Collins has sold over 150 million albums worldwide, making him one of the world’s best-selling artists. He is one of only three artists, along with Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, who have sold over 100 million albums worldwide both as solo artists and separately as principal members of a band. He’s in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame and is worth in the neighborhood of $250 million. Nice neighborhood.

#BornThisDay: Playwright, Lanford Wilson

April 13, 1937, Lanford Wilson:

“Nobody’s safe around a writer.”

I spent a certain amount of time and energy in the late 1970s attempting to get a production of the beautiful, soulful play, Fifth Of July, off the ground, one of those artistic endeavors that somehow managed to slip away. I have remained a fan of the work of playwright Lanford Wilson for the past 50 years, ever since seeing his play Balm In Gilead back in 1965. I was drawn to Wilson’s desperate eccentric characters who were filled fears and needs that were portrayed with sympathy and a sense of humor.

Wilson was born in Lebanon, Missouri and he brought a certain Midwestern sensibility and outlook to his plays. He studied at the University of Chicago and lived there for a decade while working in the advertising world. Wilson found his first success as a playwright at NYC’s Caffe Cino in 1964, where his play The Madness Of Lady Bright was a big fat hit and a significant milestone in the development of gay-themed theatre. The play’s protagonist, Leslie Bright, is a middle-aged gay guy confronting a wistful past, a lonely present and an uncertain future.

Most of his plays, including the early: The Hot L Baltimore (1973) Serenading Louie (1970), and Balm In Gilead were produced in association with Circle Repertory Company, where he was founding member in 1969, along with director Marshall Mason. Among the playwrights whose plays debuted at Circle Rep were gay writers: Jon Robin Baitz, Michael Cristofer, Craig Lucas, Robert Patrick, Paula Vogel, and Tennessee Williams. The impressive list of actors who were company members are:  William Hurt, Kathy Bates, Christopher Reeve, Jeff Daniels, Judd Hirsch, Swoosie Kurtz, Cherry Jones, Joe Mantello, Debra Monk, Cynthia Nixon, Richard Thomas, Joan Allen, Olympia Dukakis, Laurence Fishburne, Farley Granger, Ed Harris, Timothy Hutton, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Christine Lahti, John Malkovich, Demi Moore and Mary-Louise Parker. Circle Rep closed its doors in 1996 after 27 years of presenting cutting edge theatre.

Wilson’s plays are earthy, realist, greatly admired, and frequently performed. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1980 for the lovely Talley’s Folly, the story of a Jewish man who proposes to a Protestant woman, part a trilogy called The Talley Cycle, along with Talley & Son, and Fifth Of July.

My personal favorite, Fifth Of July, is a bittersweet and funny drama that explores the disillusionment of the Vietnam era. The Broadway production starred Christopher Reeve as a gay, paraplegic Vietnam veteran, and co-starred Jeff Daniels & Swoosie Kurtz. It was made into an excellent television movie in 1982. Wilson’s other Broadway plays include Burn This (1987), Angels Fall (1983), and Redwood Curtain, which I understudied several of the roles when it premiered at Seattle Repertory Theatre in 1993. It was made as a film for TV in 1995, featuring Jeff Daniels and John Lithgow. His work reminds me of Tennessee Williams, in the best way.

His Off-Broadway work The Hot L Baltimore, about the residents of a seedy residential hotel, was the basis of a short-lived television sitcom of the same name, broadcast on ABC in 1975.

Wilson’s work is filled with authentic, gritty, overlapping dialogue and characters concerned with broken dreams great and meager, plus the themes of loss in life, love, companionship and sanity. His characters are drawn as socially marginalized by Wilson whose own identity was as a guy from the Ozarks, a child of a broken home, and gay at a time when it was very tough to be gay. Wilson was one of the first mainstream playwrights to create central, meaningful gay characters. The subject matter of many of his plays was drawn from his own life. His troubled home life was the subject of in the play Lemon Sky, which was adapted to film in 1988 with Kevin Bacon. The plot deals with a young gay man’s attempted reconciliation with his father, who refuses to accept his son’s gayness.

Beginning in the early 1960s, Wilson lived in a small apartment in Greenwich Village. In the 1970s, he bought a house in Sag Harbor. He lived in both places, using his city apartment when he had a play in production. He became active in a community theatre company in Sag Harbor.

“I want people to see and to read my plays and to say: ‘This is what it was like living in that place at that time. People haven’t changed a damn bit. We can recognize everyone.’ ”

Wilson was bravely openly gay all of his professional life, but my research finds nothing about a boyfriend or partner.

In spring 2011, Wilson put down his pen at last, gone from pneumonia, at his home in Sag Harbor. He was 73 years old. Sadly ironic that Wilson died at the centenary of his friend and mentor Tennessee Williams’s birth.

“Um, that’s because kid’s don’t usually wear wigs,” argued Conan.

“Because they can’t get them! If you want to go to school and your parents won’t let you wear mohawk, I can fix that!”

He then went on to bring out a group of kids wearing his line of wigs that include a Pee-wee pompadour, a beehive, a man-bun, a Lady Godiva, and of course a Donald Trump. Fabulous! Watch below.

He also showed off his impressive collection of kitschy ephemera that includes a Mr T piggy bank and a hot dog cooker for your car.

Asya Kozina is a designer of paper wedding dresses based on different nationalities. She writes:

I was approached by a brand of underwear to make wedding clothes.

While sketching the outfits, it was hard to imagine a stylized national costume which would expose intimate parts. But the final result was so conventional that it did not seem vulgar and unaesthetic in combination with underwear.

The main thing for me was not to offend the sensibilities of culture bearers, whose costume I took as a basis. I enthusiastically took up the job for “Wild Orchid” brand because for a long time I had the idea to create a kind of world wedding costumes Red List. The ones in which the whole race put the story in which the centuries-old symbols laid. Costumes are unique not only in the world, they are unique in each individual family.

#BornThisDay: Actor, Sir John Gielgud

April 14, 1904– Most people remember Sir John Gielgud for his Oscar winning performance as Dudley Moore‘s butler in the 1981 film Arthur, but he was so much more than that. He was more romantic than Laurence Olivier and more sensitive than Ralph Richardson. Gielgud was the greatest Shakespearean performer of the 20th century. His portrayal, as a very young man, in the title role of Hamlet, is considered the greatest of all time. He is a favorite of the theatre world and a personal acting idol for me.

Gielgud is one of the handful of entertainers to have won an Oscar, Emmy Award, Grammy, and Tony Award. Known for his beautiful delivery, he was called the “voice that wooed the world”. He was still acting on stage at 90 years old and he now has a West End theatre named after him.

On stage, Gielgud had his act together, but for half of his time on this earth, his private life was a big old mess. His career was almost ended by his gayness at a time when being a homo was a crime. Today, when it is perfectly legal to indulge in some dude-on-dude action in Britain, it is difficult to imagine that gay men were taking enormous risks to be together just 40 years ago. Back then, sex between men, even performed in total privacy, could lead to ruined careers and years in prison.

At the very apex of his acting success, an incident in Gielgud’s life so crippled him that he contemplated suicide. In 1953, after a rehearsal for his lead role in A Day By The Sea, the 49 year old actor had cocktails with friends and then afterward went on the prowl for an encounter with another man. He visited one of London’s infamous underground public bathrooms. Gielgud had done this before, but this time he was arrested by a Scotland Yard officer picked for his good-looks and assigned to the urinals for the purposes of the entrapment of poofsters.

During that era, The Home Secretary of England had called gay people “A Plague Over England”. He vowed to wipe out homosexuality before it destroyed the British Empire. You know how gays can ruin a civilization. The police arrested more than 10,000 gay men a year, and the poor clueless Gielgud was one of them.

Gielgud, born into a famous theatrical family, he had never had any doubt that he preferred the company of other gentlemen. One of his first acting jobs in the 1920s was to understudy the very gay Noël Coward, and he knew the score. In 1926, during the run of Coward’s play The Constant Nymph, Gielgud had his first serious romance, with fellow actor John Perry, who gave up his own promising stage career to live with his much more successful lover.

Gielgud’s homosexuality was common knowledge in the acting community, but audiences only knew of his astonishing talent. After his Hamlet became a box-office sensation in 1934, British theatre-goers idolized him. Other accomplished actors like Alec Guinness, Edith Evans and Richard Burton thought he was simply the very best.

In 1953, the year of the Elizabeth II’s coronation, Gielgud was nominated for a knighthood. He was at the very height of his remarkable career. He was directing himself in a new production, and he had a new boyfriend, interior designer Paul Anstee. Despite his new knighthood and being one of the most celebrated actors on the planet, there he was, arrested and charged with “persistently importuning men for immoral purposes”.

Despite his high profile, Gielgud was not recognized when he was arrested. He was fined and urged to seek a doctor’s help for his perverse sex life, a common recommendation back when homosexuality was considered a medical problem. Gielgud’s good fortune ended when a reporter from the London Evening Standard happened to be in court during his hearing and recognized the actor’s magnificent voice. On his way to rehearsal that same afternoon, Gielgud saw his own name on the front page of the newspaper.

The humiliation was too much for Gielgud. A noted politician called for him to be horsewhipped in the street after first being stripped of his knighthood. But, his fellow cast members were very supportive, and when the play finally opened, Gielgud’s adoring fans proved supportive and enthusiastically applauded his performance. The little bit of vindication was not enough for poor Gielgud. Just five months into the run, he had a nervous breakdown and left the play.

The United States’ government denied Gielgud a visa to tour his production of The Tempest around our country. Famed gay choreographer Frederick Ashton denounced Gielgud as having “ruined it for us all”. As if he had not suffered enough, by the late 1950s, Gielgud’s acting style had fallen out of style. But, instead of going into hiding, he smartly adapted and continued to work in the more modern theatre, performing in the works of Harold Pinter and Samuel Beckett. Gielgud continued to work on stage and in films into his 90s. He had roles in three films in 1997, at 93 years old, including playing the piano tutor in the film Shine, which brought him a SAG and BAFTA Award nomination.

Sweet revenge, Gielgud’s career enjoyed a real renaissance in his old age. He even achieved respectability in his love life. At a Tate Gallery exhibition in the 1960s, Gielgud bumped into artist Martin Hensler, who was 30 years younger and shared his love of gardening. They fell for each other and remained a couple for 40 years. They died just two weeks apart from each other.

“You can be good in a good movie, you can be good in a bad movie, you can be bad in a bad movie, but never, ever, be bad in a good movie.”

AMC Movie Theaters to Let Millennials Text During Movies Because Who Can Stop Them?

920x920

AMC Movie Theater CEO Adam Aron is considering letting people use their phones during movies because why the hell not? The world is already ruined by entitled brats who can’t be controlled. “When you tell a 22-year-old to turn off their phone, don’t ruin the movie, they hear ‘please cut off your left arm above the elbow,'” Aron tells Variety. “You can’t tell a 22-year-old to turn off their cellphone. That’s not how they live their life.”

The movie chain has been trying to update their theaters by recreating a home-like experience for its patrons. To that end, they’ve already replaced every old seat in their auditoriums with recliners. Allowing people to text and talon their phones, the thinking goes, would just add to the home-like experience. Never mind the fact that when you’re at home you are just bothering one or two other people, as opposed to hundreds who have paid good money not to be distracted by the light of your phone and your incessant tappity-tap-tapping.

From Engadget:

Movie theaters and places of worship are a few of the remaining places where using a cellphone is verboten, and by pandering to this demographic’s horrible habit AMC is stripping away common courtesy and setting a gross precedent in the name of profits.

Aron says that certain sections where texting would be allowed is one possibility for this, while the more likely situation would be having specific auditoriums set up to be “more texting friendly.” If the chain is willing to kick out someone wearing Google Glass for fear of piracy, though, how is it going to differentiate someone texting from a person recording what’s on the screen with their phone?

How indeed? What do you think? Great idea or the second horseman of the coming apocalypse?

Hmmm. #Messy #Problematic #Unnecessary

“Adolf Hitler has been portrayed on screen many times – but never like this! Adolf the Artist is a satirical drama starring Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) and Rupert Grint (Harry Potter), telling the little-known tale of a young Adolf, before politics and before war, when all he could dream about was becoming a famous painter. Historically accurate, this imagining of the young pre-tyrant is comedic in its approach and sees him ata crossroads in his life, when “his struggle” was purely about not being a good enough artist. In 1907, an 18-year-old Hitler applied to the prestigious Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, certain that his genious would be recognized. It wasn’t. He resolved to re-apply the following year and moved to Vienna, hopeful that living amongst artists would rub off on him. Not one to let himself go, Hitler found the opium-taking, schnapps-swilling, sexual experimentation of his fellow artists somewhat irritating and as he’d not yet developed into a demagogic ranter, no-one listened. They didn’t have to. Yet. This story follows Adolf in the run-up to retaking the entrance exam, burdened by temper tantrums and an oddball dress sense, and desperately trying to improve as an artist and gain recognition.”

Of course, Hitler has been fodder for comedy before, most notably with Charlie Chaplin’s The Great DictatorMel Brook’s The Producers, and a couple of Disney cartoons… so who’s to say it might not work. I don’t know. What do YOU think? (via The Leaky Cauldron)
