North Carolina’s anti-LGBT HB 2 law and other so-called “bathroom bills” have been gaining traction around the country, as right-wingers use fear mongering to propagate the myth that men, sexual predators, and pedophiles would come into women’s bathrooms to molest and attack women and young children. In fact, the opposite would happen. In the video below, users of public restrooms are asked to show IDs, and are are forced to use restrooms that don’t conform to their gender identity because of the law. As you can see, gender-policing bathrooms causes more problems than it solves. Watch below.

Meet 55-year-old Eva Tiamat Baphomet Medusa – or Tiamat for short  –  who claims she’s the first and only person to have her ears and nose cosmetically removed to give her a more dragon-like appearance. In addition to being transgender, Eva has undergone a number of painful surgeries as part of her transformation into a ‘mythical beast,’ including: nose modification, tooth extraction and eye coloring… horns implanted onto her forehead, scarification on her face and chest that resemble reptilian scales…. swell as a forked tongue and a full-face tattoo .

“I don’t care what people say about me or my views, and if I have to I will defy and stand alone against the world, but never will I make any compromise to my integrity.” wrote Eva on a recent photo of herself. (via the Daily Mail)

NYC gender bender Marti Gould Cummings performed a rock homage cabaret show at Feinstein’s/54 Below  the other night, and the place was packed! With a set list that included songs by Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, Green Day, and Rod Stewart, Cummings stepped out of his performance comfort zone, which consists usually of Broadway standards, and slayed the crowd! Along with his band Marti and the Cummers, led by Zeppelin and Robert Plant collaborator Eric Miranda, also joining him on stage, Tony Award winner Cady Huffman and theater stars Hernando Umana (Kinky Boots) and Michelle Dowdy (Hairspray). “I grew up listening to classic rock with my dad in the car,” says Marti Gould Cummings. “The first concert I ever went to was Eric Clapton when I was 8. Last night marked the first game of World of Wonder’s new softball team ‘ The Rough Cuts’ with the Los Angeles Municipal Sports league! We were WAY ahead in the beginning, but unfortunately our competitors ‘The Tuckers’ (who’re named after their dog, the company mascot and has nothing to do with drag queens) came back in the last inning to tie our score so the final score was 12 to 12. Our next game will be at 9PM on April 20 at the Cheviot Hills Recreational Center if you’d like to watch!

As you probably already know, Gay For Play Game Show starts this coming Monday, April 11 on Logo—right after a new episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Mama RuPaul called up Queerty to discuss about the subversive undercurrent of game shows and why he doesn’t give a fuck about what people expect from him.

Queerty: You’ve riffed on Match Game with “Snatch Game” on Drag Race, and now you’re hosting your own game show. Have you always been into game shows?
RuPaul: I love ’em! I love the ones in the ’70s especially because they were so cheeky and irreverent and so much fun. They were also encoded — encrypted with a secret gay language that was so important to me growing up. There was always a wink-wink to gay aesthetic, which has so much to do with irreverence and making fun of how hypocritical and mediocre the world is.

They definitely had that campy quality that speaks to a gay audience.
Yeah, on the initial first layer it looks like camp. But actually it’s very important, especially for young people who feel disenfranchised, and feel like, Is anyone else recognizing that this is all bullshit? That’s how I was as a kid. I was thinking, Why is nobody talking about how this is all so mediocre and so bullshit? So these game shows, or anything that alluded to the ridiculousness of the world, I gravitated toward.

Obviously you’d destroy the competition if you were competing on Drag Race, but how do you think you’d do if you actually had to playGay for Play?
Oh, I’m really good with pop trivia! I’ve always had the ability to see everything—much to my own dismay! I pick up on everything. If I’m in a restaurant, I’m not only having a conversation with you, but I’m actually listening to everyone else’s conversations. I can’t help it. It’s a blessing and a curse. So in terms of pop culture, everything that you see, I see it too and then some.

Why is that dismaying to you? I feel like that would put you a step ahead over everyone else in general.
It has, but just like on Drag Race, sensitive souls who pick up on too much information end up blowing their circuitry. That’s the danger when you’re super sensitive to this world. You’ve got to learn a way to navigate and equalize your emotions. You’ve got to learn a practice to center and balance yourself when you’re picking up too much.

Neo-glam musican/British dandy and wowlebrity OF THE HIGHEST ORDER Merlin Dietrich has finally premiered the new video for his single “Flying Out to Berlin.” The song – which is easily as catchy as the iconic “Silver Samovar” – features the following lyrics which I CAN. NOT. GET. OUT. OF. MY. HEAD.

Oh, and the video? IT HAS PUPPETS! Everybody loves puppets!

Merlin, of course, was in the early ’80s British New Wave band Mystery Girls and is an author of some renown (he wrote The Man Who Knew Too Little which was made into the 1997 movie starring Bill Murray). Now Merlin is a part of our WOWPresents multi-channel network and definitely someone fun worth watching.

Calling someone a “triple threat” in Hollywood is just about the highest praise there is. Well, actress/ singer/ dancer/ author/ musician/ songwriter/ producer/ performance artist, Ann Magnuson is an octuple threat! She has acted in Hollywood blockbusters, Off-Broadway plays, TV sitcoms and indie films, fronted various bands and written for numerous publications. She’s been seduced (and fed on) by vampire David Bowie in The Hunger, had her neck broken by a drug dealer in Clear and Present Danger, romanced robot John Malkovich in Making Mr. Right, played Jodie Foster’s manic real estate agent in Panic Room, told off Meryl Streep in Before and After, seduced River Phoenix in A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon and was the cigarette girl who’s sassy pals with Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan. In her latest film, she plays wife to Christopher Walken in One More Time. We’ve been friends since 80-something and I asked her a few questions last night…

So, you made out with Bowie in The Hunger and more recently were married to Christopher Walken in One More Time, how do the two experiences compare?
Both Bowie and Walken were/are iconic and heroes to me and I was super nervous and ultra excited to work with both. I see them as being perfect bookends to my ongoing performance art project called, “Actress!” Of course, I plan to keep acting (as long as people keep calling – can’t pass up those potential Betty White roles that loom ahead) but those two experiences really sum it all up for me.

With Bowie in The Hunger, for me was about 4 days maybe more plus, a few days to prep – get my hair cut and colored in the latest New Wave style by the leading hair stylist in London at the time. It was the first days for the shoot, so everyone was a bit nervous but it was obvious David was so excited to be there. His enthusiasm made every room he entered sparkle… with stardust I dare say!

We were all SO excited when that came out. We were ALL up on that counter kissing him, we were so thrilled for our girl!
I kissed him extra long and hard for ALL OF YOU!

Tongue?
Of course, I was just taking his lead – mein gott, was that guy PASSIONATE about his ‘work’… SO much tongue I was in shock! Method Acting at it’s finest! Also, his hands kept creeping up my thighs with each take. Honey, I was sweating bullets! I think the make up person had to work overtime with the powderpuff!
I couldn’t believe ANY of it was happening! It all still fees like a dream!

Flash forward to the last summer in the Hamptons and your movie husband Chris Walken…
We actually shot the Walken film TWO years ago! Last spring was the premiere at Tribeca Film Festival. I have some amazing video of when Amber Heard hit the red carpet… It was CRAZY – you can hear me yelling towards the end of the paparazzi madness DAY OF THE FUCKIN’ LOCUST! I hate walking that damn red carpet but LOVED shooting video of Amber – who, I swear, showed up and just radiated that certain WOW factor, that IT that some people have. I thought, holy moly, it’s like seeing Lauren Bacall show up in color in Key Largo!

Later, at the after party, I mentioned DAY OF THE LOCUST to some of her young entourage and they said, ‘What’s that?’ Oh dear…

Of course. Did you guys hit it off? She plays your daughter, right…?
Amber plays my stepdaughter. Actually, sort of stepdaughter 5 times removed since I am Walkens’ characters SIXTH WIFE! Yeah, he’s THAT kind of a guy. I hit it off really well with Amber. She’s great. I think she’s the cat’s meow. Johnny Depp is VERY lucky. I also hit it off with everyone in the cast. Great, great cast! Adore Kelli Garner, Hamish Linklater and of course Oliver Platt, the greatest guy EVER! And Christopher Walken! ADORE him! I made SURE we had a rapport – because
A. It would be essential, since we played a married couple and
B. HE’S CHRISTOPHER WALKEN! Before the shoot I had heard from Chris’ former agents that he was very shy, and could appear to be remote. So, I worked extra hard on making him feel at ease. The old Southern hostess DNA sprang into action. Before long we were having a merry old time. I asked him LOTS of questions and he told me incredible stories! I told him, You need to write a memoir!
“Naw,” he said. “Then you have to talk about people”. He’s very old world courtly in that way.

I’ve seen interviews and he doesn’t have a cell or use the internet AT ALL. Old school…
That’s right. No cell. No internet. But he does like to watch television. His commentary about a lot of the reality shows was PRICELESS!

I LEARNED soooooooo much about acting just being in his presence! I watched him intensely when he was on camera. Those scenes at the dinner table (which you can see in the trailer) where I’m beaming at him aren’t ‘acted’. Watching him do his ‘Walken thing’ was so delightful. It was what I thought my character would do – I mean, his character is really a jerk, especially to his daughters, but my character wouldn’t see ANY of that, she’d love it all! But that twinkle in my eye when they do cut to me isn’t ‘technique’, that’s me being SO HAPPY to in the presence of Christopher Walken!

THE most unique phrasing and line delivery ever. I can only imagine the variations…
Yes! Variations-a-go-go! I never got tired of watching him! And he encouraged me to improv. I jump up and kiss him in the scene where he previews his new song to the family and he didn’t know I was going to do that. I was NOT going to be in Christopher Walken film playing his wife and not kiss him! He loved it. You can see him smile bashfully after I do that. The kiss was just a peck -not a full on Bowie Tongue Extravaganza but…at this age for both parties, that’s plenty!

One More Time, directed by Robert Edwards, starring Christopher Walken, Amber Heard, Ann Magnuson, Kelli Garner, Hamish Linklater & Oliver Platt is in select theaters and video on demand, on April 8. Bruce is the Boss and he just told NC what will likely continue to happen until they get their human rights issues resolved;

“As you, my fans, know I’m scheduled to play in Greensboro, North Carolina this Sunday. As we also know, North Carolina has just passed HB2, which the media are referring to as the “bathroom” law. HB2 — known officially as the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act — dictates which bathrooms transgender people are permitted to use. Just as important, the law also attacks the rights of LGBT citizens to sue when their human rights are violated in the workplace. No other group of North Carolinians faces such a burden. To my mind, it’s an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress. Right now, there are many groups, businesses, and individuals in North Carolina working to oppose and overcome these negative developments. Taking all of this into account, I feel that this is a time for me and the band to show solidarity for those freedom fighters. As a result, and with deepest apologies to our dedicated fans in Greensboro, we have canceled our show scheduled for Sunday, April 10th. Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them. It is the strongest means I have for raising my voice in opposition to those who continue to push us backwards instead of forwards.“

He was a childhood hero to me and he remains so.
