Superheroes spend a lot of time teleporting about, mainly to punch out bad guys and save a few people here and there. BORING. And rather unimaginative, if I do say so myself. In a new episode of the ongoing YouTube series “Superpowers and You,” other possible uses and abuses of teleportation are explored – from providing infinite free energy to destroying the planet by simply dropping heavy things from high places. Fascinating good fun, and something we just may have to deal with in our lifetime. Watch it below.

This past Sunday, at Taipei’s Huashan 1914 Creative Park a 12 year-old boy tripped and punched a hole in a Paolo Porpora painting valued at $1.5 million. The boy was with a tour group visiting the exhibition The Face of Leonardo, Images of a Genius which is 55 paintings by from the Italian Renaissance and up to the 20th century. It was all captured by CCTV.

* First the teenager is holding a soft drink, admiring the Baroque masterpiece with the rest of the group

* As he follows the group towards the next artwork, the boy looks away for a second

* He then loses his balance as he bumps against the platform and rope which are meant to protect the artwork

* He hits the paintings as he falls, smashing the his cup against it

* The boy he looks at the painting and at his cold drink in disbelief for a moment. He looks terrified

* His supervisor rushes over and, after putting a hand on the kid’s shoulder, leaves to look for a museum official

Porpora’s Flowers got a fist-sized hole as result of the impact. Andrea Rossi, curator of the exhibition, has said that the museum won’t ask the family of the boy to pay for the restoration. The painting is insured. (Otherwise, there’s goes college!) Rossi is considering shipping the 350-year-old masterpiece back to Italy so it can be restored there. TST Art of Discovery, co-organizer of the exhibition, posted this on Facebook;

“All 55 paintings in the venue are authentic pieces and they are very rare and precious. Once these works are damaged, they are permanently damaged… We hope that everyone can protect these precious artworks with us.”

Cyndi Lauper opened a 30-bed housing facility for homeless LGBT youth in Harlem in September of 2011. The True Colors Residence, named after her 1986 hit True Colors –which has become the unofficial “be yourself” anthem– is located on West 154th Street near Frederick Douglass Boulevard and is the first permanent housing facility of its kind in the city. Lauper has been a big supporter for LGBT rights, was moved to pursue this project because up to 40 percent of homeless youth in the city identify as LGBT.

“These young people often face discrimination and at times physical assault in some of the very places they have to go for help. This is shocking and inexcusable!

Kids are coming out in greater numbers as they see themselves accepted and represented on TV and in movies, but they’re still being kicked out of their homes or running away and living on the streets. We need to make sure we’re taking care of them. This is the next generation of the LGBT community.”

It’s a new energy-efficient building with 30 studio apartments for youths aged 18 to 24, complete with indoor and outdoor community space. Residents will pay some rent (based on their income) and will get counseling and help with job placement. Yay Cyndi! We need more of these kinds of facilities around the country. 30 beds are great but we need many more.

The True Colors Residence is a project of West End Residences, an incredible organization here in NYC. Cyndi is honored to be a co-founder of the True Colors Residence in Harlem and the new property in Bronx.

Chances are pretty good that you already know these guys (or at least 1 of them) because they have totally HUGE followings on this thing called Instagram. But if not, Kyle Krieger and Nathan McCallum both have bae AF potential, and they made the very smart decision to create a video together. They answer some fan questions sent via social media and test each other’s strength to compete in some exercise routines that basically just demonstrate how hot their bodies are. No one’s complaining.

A fascinating look at the history of the Imperial Court of San Francisco, the oldest LGBT charity organization in the US, by filmmakers David Lassman and Jethro Patalinghug. Now 50 years old, the organization has famously raised millions for AIDS, homelessness, and anti-LGBT discrimination, most famously through their annual crowning of the Emperor and/or Empress of San Fransisco.

“In the 1960s when these organizations [like the Imperial Court] were first coming into being, it was a felony for adults of the same gender to have consensual relations, and there were absolutely no protection from discrimination in housing, in employment – they HAD to come together, they HAD to do this. These were bold people, taking real risks. So what looked like a fun, lighthearted time had it’s roots in real survival. It really reflects on the nature of our community that in the rough times we come together to do good deeds and make a party of it.”

Tobias Stebel aka Toby Shelton, 35, the missing reality TV star who spent $100,000 to look like Justin Bieber, has been found dead in a Motel 6 in the San Fernando Valley. He had been missing since August 18, poor little guy.

According to TMZ, police found drugs in the room but it’s unclear how he died. “When Toby went missing, the LAPD said the disappearance may have been triggered by a breakup with his boyfriend.”

The 35-year-old famously  appeared on Botched and My Strange Addiction detailng his transformation into his pop idol Justin Bieber.

Super good web series EastSiders is about to kick off season 2…and it’s gonna be awesome! Just to catch you guys up…main characters Cal (Kit Williamson-series creator) and Thom (Van Hansis) were having issues after some unfaithful shenanigans came about. Now, they’re back together-ish…doing the ‘open relationship/dating an ex’ thing. Season 2 brings new cast of characters, including Willam Belli (RPDR Season 4), Manila Luzon (RPDR Season 3), ex-porn/pop star Traci Lords, YouTube star Drew Droege (Chloe) and more!

“I wanted to break open the love triangle,” says Williamson. “Jealousy is only interesting to a point. What happens when it’s removed from the equation? There are so many different ways human beings connect with each other, and there is no one way that is right for everybody. The show explores many different kinds of relationships, from ex-boyfriends getting back together, to friends starting a new relationship, to a lesbian couple with two kids finally getting married.”

Season 8 is big for Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles star and uber-broker Josh Flagg. He’s earning bigger commissions. He’s buying a bigger house. And he’s getting into even bigger fights with hotheaded rival Josh Altman. It’s also Flagg’s first full season since the death of his beloved grandmother, fashion entrepreneur Edith. Flagg gives us all the scoop on the feelings and dealings to come.

 

Who’s your most demanding client this time around?

He’s in the premiere: This kid I went to high school with, whom I didn’t remember. I still don’t know who he was. It’s possible he didn’t actually go to school with me. He could be a serial killer for all I know. He had grand delusions of what his house was.

 

But he’s not as unbearable as dealing with Josh, right?

Josh is a nightmare every season. We just have completely different styles-in that I’m not a used-car salesman. [Laughs]

 

Last year you very publicly dealt with the loss of your grandma. What was it like going through that in front of cameras?

It was very difficult. It was also difficult to watch. But people really loved my grandmother, and it would have been strange if we didn’t include that. She was also 94 years old and had a fabulous life. We should all be so lucky.

 

What got you and longtime boyfriend Colton Thorn to finally buy a house of your own?

You can’t live in a hotel for the rest of your life! Well, you can, but you’d be a little tight for space. We’re probably going to tear down the house that’s there and build something great on the land that both Colton and I will design.

 

You’re the only broker left from Season 1. How long do you plan on sticking around?

I’ll do this when I’m in a wheelchair, if they want me back.

The evolution continues. In a new clip from I Am Cait, Caitlyn Jenner tells her friend Jennifer Finney Boylan that she is warming to the idea of dating a man. “It would be very attractive to me,” she says, “to have a guy treat me like a woman.”

 “What does that mean?” her friend asks.

“That you would be treated like a normal woman…like any other woman on the street. Not make it this big trans thing or this or that. Just a normal relationship,” Caitlyn answers.

Boylan finds this train of thought to be slightly problematic and reminds her that she’s already a “normal woman” and that it’s both natural and silly to feel that a man will validate her as such.

“It’s a thing that women do. We look to men to give us self-worth,” Jennifer says. “I think now that you’re in the sisterhood, you have gone through such trouble to become a woman. Don’t be a stupid one. Be a smart one.”

As fans of the show will note, although this is the first time that Caitlyn has openly discussed dating a man on the show, it’s not the first time she’s addressed her sexual orientation. According to Entertainment Weekly, it came up during episode 3, but she said it was too early to tell who she was attracted to at that time. While it’s a confusing topic for the former “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star, until now she hasn’t been able to comment one way or another. In episode 2 of “I am Cait,” she revealed that, although she’s always been attracted to women, the idea of dating a man wasn’t out of the question. Above all else, she says she wanted to “have the right parts” before she considers dating at all. In other words, until she’s followed through with her gender reassignment surgery, which she says will be the last thing she does in terms of her transition, she won’t be actively searching for a relationship.

The ever-iconic Justin Vivian Bond was asked to make a statement to The New York Times about the recent raid of Rentboy.com by the Department of Homeland Security. She said she wasn’t sure what they’d print, so she decided to share the entire transcript of her statement on Facebook. Read it below and bow before the goddess.

“I think that to many in our community this feels like a throwback to when the police raided gay bars in the 50s and 60s. Despite the salaciousness of the language in the complaint I don’t think the charges will stick because basically the site provides a forum for people to meet and make personal arrangements on their own. Rentboy.com may be a provocative title but sexy, fun language is not illegal. This invasion of a consensual hook-up site which is run for and by members of the LGBT community feels like a real slap in the face after gentrification, and the Giuliani and Bloomberg administrations drove so many NYC gay bars out of business and forced people to meet online instead of in person.

“Also, if the people who register with Rentboy.com are trading sexual encounters for money they are doing so on their own terms, with agency, and presumably without being coerced by outside forces other than the need to earn a living in a difficult economic climate. Sex workers in our culture need to be protected, respected and applauded not harassed and shamed.

“Because of this raid 1,000s of independent workers worldwide will not be able to pay their rent this month and they are concerned about what this means for their safety and legal protection. There is a movement happening and many organizations creating Know Your Rights seminars this week. This is about workers’ rights–labor rights and equal protections for all kinds of workers without basic access to legal and healthcare support because they are deemed criminals or denied access to banking, housing or Facebook, in all sectors of the Adult industry, not just escorts. It’s about sex phobia and public shaming. Sex workers are strong and have organizations like Urban Justice Center and SWOP Sex Workers Outreach Project whom you might want to reach out to.

“Mainly, I feel that this is a perfect example of the hypocrisy of mainstream patriarchal culture and the government. Queer people are now invited to join in the systems of oppression -i.e. the military and marriage- that straight people have supported and engaged in for years but when it comes to freedom of choice as to what to do with our bodies women and the LGBT Community are still being exploited by the government and power hungry individuals for the purposes of financial gain and career advancement. I mean, is this really a “Homeland Security Issue?” I don’t think so. A gay man in Brooklyn who happens to have a “rimchair” is hardly the equivalent of someone on a commuter train with an AK-47. Years of undercover work and untold amounts of city and federal taxpayer dollars were spent on this this undercover sting operation and who was being harmed? Nobody.”

Superfab teeny tiny skulls carved from pearls and made into gorgeously macabre rings and brooches by Tokyo-based jewelry designer Shinji Nakaba. All the items on his website are beyooooond amazing and completely covet worthy, but I’m with Dangerous Minds, who says they’d love to see an entire skull pearl necklace by Nakaba. Ugh. Can you imagine? I’d wear dozens of them, Chanel-style, and be the belle of the goth ball scene (is that a thing? It’s probably a thing. And I’m going to TAKE. IT. OVER).

Pearl skulls aren’t the only things that Nakaba makes. Says Bored Panda: Everything he produces is wearable, and he often uses unconventional materials to create his pieces.

Hanksy, the Banksy parodist, has painted the perfect portrait of the Republican presidential candidate – as a steaming pile of fly-covered poo. The mural is located on Orchard Street on the Lower East Side. Here’s what the the artist tweeted about his masterpiece: “okay. so I started with the fact that Trump kinda rhymes with dump. but I think I’m just gonna paint him as a giant pile of shit”

This is the second time Hanksy has taken on the billionaire developer. Following Trump’s remarks on Mexican immigrants, Hanksy created a campaign-type poster of Trump sporting a “Viva Mexcio” sombrero and tweeted, “Hey @realDonaldTrump I want to help you get the Latino vote.”

A national Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday puts Trump in the lead of the crowded GOP primary race with 28 percent, followed by Ben Carson with 12 percent of the Republican support. Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are tied for third.
