Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, died on yesterday in Duluth, Georgia. She was just 22. As you know, she was found unresponsive in her bathtub on Jan. 31 and was later placed in a medically induced coma. She was transferred to a rehabilitation center nearly two months later before she was moved to the Peachtree Christian Hospice, where she died. The Houston family said;

“She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”

What if you organized a parade and NO ONE came? Anthony Rebello was the blogger/ organizer behind the Heterosexual Pride Parade at Seattle’s Capitol Hill on Saturday. Over 2,000 people were invited on Facebook to attend the event. It was created

“in the name of equality [and] equal rights … to celebrate our right to be heterosexual, and to encourage younger heterosexuals that they should be proud of their heterosexuality.”

Less than 200 people said they were coming, but in the end, just one person showed up. Rebello himself.

In a June 27 blog post on his website, Smile Me A River, Rebello lamented marriage equality. The post came just one day after SCOTUS’ decision to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide:

I think it’s a trend. A cry for attention. From your government, a distraction. For $. I have previously stated how I feel about marriage in this post: MARRIAGE I have also created an event: Heterosexual Parade Gay Mafia? Maybe animals should be allowed to get married? Would they govern and tax them too? While they’re at it, how about equal rights for insects? In my opinion, there is a difference between a man and a woman. If you can’t appreciate those differences, you can’t enjoy those differences. I don’t agree with boys turning into girls, and I don’t agree with girls turning into boys. The word/meaning of “Pride” doesn’t belong to the gay/lgbt community, it belongs to everyone. That includes us good old fashioned straight people. The way I see it, in my opinion, some boys never turn into men, and some girls never turn into women. What a shitshow. “Welcome to the other side of the rainbow” Really? No thanks.

Rebello blamed the lack of turnout on the negative response from the LGBT community. Yeah, right. It was a gay conspiracy.

It’s been the year of the “found” book hit. First Harper Lee‘s Go Set a Watchman sells a million plus copies right out of the gate and today Dr. Seuss –who’s real name is Theodor Geisel, been dead for almost 25 years– comes out today with What Pet Should I Get?. Cathy Goldsmith, VP and Associate Publisher at Random House Young Readers, says though the good doctor’s gone, his words just won’t quit.

“Shortly after Dr. Seuss died his widow did some renovations in the house and I think the box was packed up then and just forgotten about. I went literally running down the hall to my bosses office and said they found a box. They want us to come and look. We were literally on a plane like three business days later!”

Bill Dreyer, the curator for the Art of Seuss says that…

“Dr. Seuss is more popular now than he was during his lifetime. In the 25 years since he’s now been gone, another 450 million books have been sold.

I understand from Random House that there are more books that will come out of this find.”

Let’s just hope we don’t find out the Lorax was a white supremacist. (Insert clever rhyme here.)

Yesterday marked the 75th “birthday” of Bugs Bunny who is one the most beloved and iconic cartoon figures ever. He was the leading figure in Warner Brothers‘s Looney Tunes cartoon stable, but prior to his first official appearance prototypes of the character were tried out in several films. The template for Bugs and Elmer Fudd‘s relationship, in which the dolt was always topped by the clever bunny was set early on. Bugs could also have been the first cartoon drag queen superstar too. He was never shy about wearing women’s clothing or trying to seduce Elmer or any other man. ConDRAGulations, Bugs! You look GOOD for 75! Watch.

Hurricane Bianca which stars Bianca Del Rio, tells the story of a high school teacher in a small town in Texas who loses his job once it’s discover he is gay. So what’s a gay guy to do when something like this happens? Get dressed up in drag and return disguised as a mean lady to get revenge on everyone in the town, of course. The movie is currently shooting on location in Dallas and the cast includes the hilarious SNL alum Rachel Dratch (above) and the one-and-only Alan Cumming.

The crowdsourced indie film was written by, and is being directed by, Matt Kugelman and the project hopes to make people laugh while highlighting LGBT discrimination and employment equality. says Roy Haylock, the man behind Bianca says;

“My hope is that Hurricane Bianca will change minds and bring awareness to the issue. The film deals with a serious topic in a comedic way.

I really can’t tell you how my character gets his revenge, but give me forty bucks and I’ll get you a scratched DVD with behind the scenes footage, which is just me getting into drag.”

It’s been a BIG year for both Roy and Bianca. Since winning RuPaul’s Drag Race, Bianca has toured the world with her comedy show, Rolodex of Hate and was recently named one of “10 Comics to Watch” by Variety. We’ll keep you posted for the premiere but look for Hurricane Bianca in 2016.

The Grierson Awards, UK’s leading documentary film award, has shortlisted Dressed as a Girl for Best Entertaining Documentary at the British Documentary Awards.

Dressed As a Girl is the story of East London’s exciting alternative drag scene that is “occasionally heart-breaking, casually shocking, completely rocking and ceaselessly entertaining.

Director Colin Rothbart spent five years following the principal characters who talk about their dragtastic times and the personal demons that often hide beneath the mascara. Starring Jonny Woo, Scottee,  Holestar (WOW contributor), Amber, John Sizzle and Pia Arber, Dressed As a Girl covers not only the highs and lows of this hugely popular club scene but also offers some personal, emotionally honest portraits of six individuals at the heart it. Fundamentally it’s about the nature of friendship, life and even survival against the odds, universal themes that everyone can relate to.

It seems model Noah Mills swung by the Vogue.com offices between events at Men’s Fashion Week to work out. Mills told Vogue that he occasionally fits in a weightlifting session at the gym, but he credits this physique to staying active whenever —and wherever— he can. When he’s not surfing in Malibu, hiking in Santa Monica, or boxing at CMC Pro Boxing, he might be found jogging through the streets of Istanbul, doing bicep curls in his hotel room with resistance bands, or practicing downward dogs at his airport gate.

“I’m not shy. [Working out] is the best tool to reset and sweat out whatever you need to sweat out.”

What’s his favorite do-anywhere move?

“I always like push-ups—you can do flat, incline, decline, wide push-ups, diamond push-ups—they’re hard but they give you so much energy.”

He says that he has never worked out in an office before, but his habit of finding creative ways to break a sweat no matter his surroundings made him something of an expert at Vogue’s new offices in One World Trade Center. In the video, he demonstrates how Hulks, army crawls, and Hallelujahs can boost your heart rate at your desk. Now there’s NO EXCUSE to not do one of these today, right? Wowlebrity, social critic, and professional provocateur Camille Paglia did a three-part interview with Salon in which she takes on Bill Cosby, Bill Clinton, atheism, Jon Stewart’s Daily Show legacy (she’s NOT a fan), liberals and Fox News (GET OVER IT, LIBS), and presidential candidate Donald Trump. Not surprisingly, she finds Trump’s PT Barnum schtick completely captivating – very ’60s, very Lenny Bruce. Read the whole thing here, but check out the Trump bits below.

I was looking back at some of your old Salon columns, and was surprised to see some kind words for Donald Trump. There was one in particular when you were quite delighted by the way Trump went after Rosie O’Donnell on “The View.”

[laughs] Well, my view of Trump began in the negative.  When he was still relatively unknown nationally, he jackhammered a magnificent Art Deco sculpture over the main doorway of the Bonwit Teller department store on 5th Avenue.  It was 1980, and he was demolishing the store to build Trump Tower.  The Metropolitan Museum of Art had offered to take the sculpture, but Trump got impatient and just had it destroyed.  I still remember that vividly, and I’m never going to forget it!  I regard Donald Trump as an art vandal, equivalent to ISIS destroying ancient Assyrian sculptures.  As a public figure, however, Trump is something of a carnival barker.

But as a provocateur yourself, you must admire the very interesting his game he is playing.

So far this year, I’m happy with what Trump has done, because he’s totally blown up the media!  All of a sudden, “BOOM!”  That lack of caution and shooting from the hip. He’s not a president, of course. He’s not remotely a president. He has no political skills of any kind. He’s simply an American citizen who is creating his own bully pulpit.  He speaks in the great populist way, in the slangy vernacular.  He takes hits like a comedian–and  to me he’s more of a comedian than Jon Stewart is!  Like claiming John McCain isn’t a war hero, because his kind of war hero doesn’t get captured–that’s hilarious! That’s like something crass that Lenny Bruce might have said!  It’s so startling and entertaining.

To me, it feels very 1960s.  These sudden disruptions, as when the Yippies would appear to do a stunt–like when they invaded Wall Street and threw dollar bills down on the stock exchange and did pig-calls!  I’m enjoying this, but it’s throwing both campaigns off. None of the candidates on either side know how to respond to this kind of wild spontaneity, because we haven’t seen it in so long.

Politics has always been performance art.  So we’ll see who the candidates are who can think on their feet.  That’s certainly how I succeeded in the early 1990s.  Before that, the campus thought police could easily disrupt visiting speakers who came with a prepared speech to read.  But they couldn’t disrupt me, because I had studied comedy and did improv!  The great comedians knew how to deal with hecklers in the audience.  I loved to counterattack!  Protestors were helpless when the audiences laughed.

So what I’m saying is that the authentic 1960s were about street theater–chaos, spontaneity, caustic humor. And Trump actually has it!  He does better comedy than most professional comedians right now, because we’re in this terrible period where the comedians do their tours with canned jokes. They go from place to place, saying the same list of jokes in the same way.  But the old vaudevillians had 5,000 jokes stored in their heads. They went out there and responded to that particular audience on that particular night.  They had to read the crowd and try out what worked or didn’t work.

Our politicians, like our comedians, have been boring us with their canned formulas for way too long.  So that’s why Donald Trump has suddenly leapt in the polls.  He’s a great stand-up comedian. He’s anti-PC–he’s not afraid to say things that are rude and mean.  I think he’s doing a great service for comedy as well as for politics!

Greer Lankton was the iconic trans artist known for creating lifelike dolls that were often modeled on friends and celebrities like Andy Warhol, Diana Vreeland, and Candy Darlin, and posed in elaborate theatrical settings. She was a key figure in the East Village art scene of the 1980s in New York before her tragic death in 1996. Her husband, partner, and muse Paul Monroe posted the photo (above) of Greer dressed as her alter ego Dee Dee Deluxe, in a bizarre fat suit costume she created as a teenager. He writes:

Greer Lankton as Dee Dee Delux, 1978, at a Chicago nightclub. Greer is inside this incredible “doll ” she created when she was 16 years old. Greer would randomly wear it to night clubs, yard sales and to her local Woolworth’s in Park Forrest, Illinois…. The genius of her creativity to be skilled at such a young age to create a skin she could zip herself into… playing with the idea of altered identity…. Light years beyond comprehension – remember this is 1977 – in the suburbs – born from boredom and restraints and her infatuation with the legendary Divine.

So genius. And terrifying. And hysterical. Did I mention genius? Imagine running into THAT wandering the streets of home town!
